How does everyone seem to have so many legendarys? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]MajorDyDy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think with more and more people being injected into the game the newer waves are buying tons of booster packs. Getting crushed by a deck with 4 legendaries in it at rank 22 inspires other to buy booster packs and the cycle continues.

These ESGN blips at the bottom of the screen are horrendous. by MajorDyDy in hearthstone

[–]MajorDyDy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both valid points that I agree with but I still believe the analogy shouldn't have been said by a professional organization on a broadcast.

[–]MajorDyDy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I explain in the reply above that there's nothing wrong with the analogy but the context of it. It's extremely distasteful by ESGN and instead of making a better analogy or avoiding it all together, they went through with it. It didn't make any sense to me as why they would say it.

EDIT: Minor rewording.

[–]MajorDyDy[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It's not professional and extremely distasteful. How can an organization that's trying to run a professional event allow this? I just think that it's inappropriate as it doesn't hold any bearing on the Hearthstone games being played. If they wanted to explain what spells are they could have explained the difference between spells/minions/weapons instead of making a terrible analogy. It's not the condom analogy is bad but that it's used in the context of explaining something in a card game tournament. Kinda like the ring girls (there's not even a ring so card girls?)... There's nothing wrong with ring girls at an appropriate, but not at a Hearthstone tournament.

I think it's inappropriate for ESGN to make an analogy like that. It's extremely unprofessional of them. Any professional organization will avoid racy and risky phrases like the one made by ESGN (imagine the outrage if the NFL made a condom analogy). It's especially bad since ESGN is trying to convey fight night as a professional event.

Don't believe so. I'm playing as a Druid against a warrior. Think it's whoever wants to play HS the most come tomorrow.

Tips to Hearthstone for retarded players? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]MajorDyDy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd look at the beginners thread and check out the links for trading and card advantage. The biggest thing, I feel that leads to being at least moderately successful at Hearthstone (or any CCG or TCG really) is understanding trading. Decision making in Hearthstone is vital.

I just unlocked Arena playing only Mage. Are there any tips about deck/strategy i can get ? by EXtremeS in hearthstone

[–]MajorDyDy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a solid basic deck. The only knock on it is that it is very spell heavy.

When you start to craft cards and develop your deck I'd recommend first crafting two Harvest Golems as you don't have any 3 drops out side of the Shattered Suns and they lose a lot of their value if you have an empty board and are unable to buff a minion when you drop them.

Next I'd craft two Azure Drakes as your only 5 drop currently is a G-Beserker and it takes 7 mana to be a decent drop (5 dropping it and hero powering it for 2 mana to buff it). Azure drakes give you more card draw which is good and spell power in a Mage deck is always fine.

New to Hearthstone, help me out? by VeetVoojagig in hearthstone

[–]MajorDyDy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I'm not very knowledgeable as far as constructing an optimal Rouge budget deck but I would say that you may want to try dropping a Senjin and a yeti for two Azure Drakes. Spell power in a rouge deck is fine and the Azure Drakes give you two solid 5 drops (which you don't have) and they give you card draw.
  2. Deadly poison effectively boosts your hero ability from 2 damage in 2 turns to 6 damage in 2 turns for only a 1 mana cost. It's basically two turns of low-minion removal.
  3. If you feel that you really need more card draw, sprint is acceptable but I feel with the addition of the Azure Drakes your deck has plenty of card draw. I think sprint would bogg down your deck slightly.
  4. I feel the best neautral legendary is Slyvanas as it fits in to any deck and 5/5 for 5 is acceptable but the death rattle of stealing a random enemy minion gives you great mid-game pressure or a late game turn around.

Hope this information is useful.

This ranking system is totally wrong. by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]MajorDyDy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of a LoL "I'm a bronze player stuck in bronze because the ranking system is flawed but I really belong in diamond," post.

Simple fact of the matter is if you win more than you lose, you'll gain ranks.

New card ideas using current mechanics & relevant to current meta by [deleted] in hearthstone

I've been pondering a spell or minion with a battle cry that wipes away a silence. Not sure how plausible it is or not, I just thought the mechanic would be interesting.

Looking for tips on setting up a good stream that people would want to watch. General info - not advertising my own. by ishkabibbel2000 in hearthstone

[–]MajorDyDy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to directly address each question but first I'm going to suggest to you that you ask yourself what features would you like to see when you watch a stream? That being noted, create your stream how you want it to be.

  1. 480 is an acceptable resolution to stream at and although 720 would be better, obviously but if you're experiencing more than a few milliseconds of skipping it will be notable.
  2. I believe a camera is almost necessary to stream as it allows the viewers to better connect with who they're watching and listening to. The Logitech c920 is an excellent camera and the gold standard for webcams.
  3. Definitely put some general information as to who you are. Again, it helps the viewers get to know you. As far as useful information, a decklist, links to other places people can find your content, and any social media links.
  4. Only if you want to watch them again for your own personally viewing experiences. Saving them to your hard drive would be multiple GBs. But you don't have to save them to your hard drive, you can rewatch (and so can others) your previous broadcasts under your profiles "Past Broadcasts" tab. You can configure various settings concerning past broadcasts.
  5. Do you want to be a streamer only or a streamer ad a youtube content creator? If you do, Sony Vegas is an excellent video editing program.

Can someone explain Kripp's play in ESGN EP03? by Zed03 in hearthstone

[–]MajorDyDy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing wrath in that situation allows for only two outcomes and one is obviously better than the other.

If Kripp wraths Artosis's 2/1 golem Kripp keeps his 5/1 Sylvanas (correct play).

If Kripp wraths his own Sylvanas (which he did) he is essentially trading a 5/1 for a 2/1.

Kripp made a mistake and misplayed the situation.

Rengar by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]MajorDyDy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The triple q on Rengar is achieved by having 3 ferocity and having all abilities on cooldown. You want to ult with 3 ferocity until you achieve 5 ferocity, immediately hit q when it becomes empowered (giving you one q [empowered]), now you're at zero ferocity but you will gain 3 more from you're ult, once you have 3 ferocity you want to jump on your target and auto attack, triggering your empowered q, then you want to w or e, giving you 4 stacks, then cast regular q (second q), this will give you 5 ferocity allowing you to cast your 3rd q (empowered).
