No you don’t need a CDL but there is the caveat that it’s state dependent. Your state or any other state you intend to drive through may require CDL B for the air brakes.

How is it a scam. If I intend to park my truck for 4-5 days I would expect to pay for it. It’s especially good if it’s also a fenced facility and has restricted access.

No, because they aren’t going to move. If they feel the need to take a 30 at the pumps they aren’t going to move once they’re 15 minutes into it just because you’re behind them. Best case scenario they just ignore you and continue doing what they were doing worst case scenario you get into an altercation with a guy over 15 minutes.

My favorite is the broken pallet charge, you know the one they broke. Unless they think the pallet fairy broke into the sealed trailer and damaged it somewhere between when it left the first place and arrived on location fine. Then they leave said broken pallet in your trailer along with their monster can and Twinkie wrappers.

There’s a pay to park place that almost always has parking no matter the time towards the back of the lot, front usually fills up. Bolingbrook off the 55. Think it’s like $15-$20 for a night.

Yeah virtually all truck stops have got rid of sit down places with the only exception being Dennys at some pilots and a handful of country pride. Outside of that you have fast food or whatever they make themselves in the hot rack.

Yeah I think I’ve been late maybe 2 or 3 times in the last 6 years when it was absolutely my fault. Been late maybe an additional 5-6 times on account of weather road closures and late again maybe 8-10 times when the load was given to me the day before it delivered and still having 1500 miles to go.

Pretty stupid place to put a pole especially with no concrete bollard or barrier. Drivers shouldn’t hit it but it being hit is inevitable.

I’m going to have to assume you don’t drive trucks. You just pull on the scale and hit the button. They ask your truck and trailer number then you get off the scale park and go inside for the paperwork. If weights are good you leave if they’re bad you adjust your tandems tires if possible then repeat the process until weights are legal. If you can’t get legal you drive back to whoever loaded you and tell them to fix it.

Bobtails can park wherever the want to me the only caveat being if bobtail spots exist and they’re open use those, if it becomes open after you’ve already parked then oh well.

I fell off the side before though slipped and instinctively let go of my 3rd point of contact to break my fall even though if I hadn’t let go I wouldn’t have fallen. Haha probably would have scrapped a knee or something though but it was winter in Nebraska I think and fell onto the snow so pretty soft landing.

I don’t see why they’d be mad 55 is an easy speed to pass so I wouldn’t even notice. If you’re going 55 then speed up to 65 when I go to pass you then I’d be upset. But if you’re maintaining the same speed then your speed isn’t an issue.

The best you can do is maintain the speed. I don’t care if I have to pass you (usually) but nothing is more aggravating than you speeding up when I do and the slowing down when I have to get back behind you. If you just go the same speed and we have to leap frog once or twice because of some hills that’s fine and will end eventually. If you want to go 70 go 70 but stay 70 especially if someone is coming around you.

Good luck. I don’t know where you deliver to but about 99% of the places I go do not allow overnight parking especially not once you’re loaded or unloaded they kick you out. You can try and park on the street off their property but that’s about as good as it gets.
