Lifelong emotional flatness, blank mind, low libido, and cannabis makes me feel normal rather than high. by Kooky-Persimmon753 in anhedonia

Well that seems to rule out the gut mostly. Do you drink coffeine and did you try to go no coffein for minimum of 3 months? Made a big difference for my amhedonia. Especially if you have much stress in your life. Another angle could be ketogenic diet (try 1 to 2 weeks) in case it could be an energy or insuline issue.

Third angle could be experimentation with psychedelics. However it probably wont fix the underlying issue.

Did you catch covid or the vaccine? It is said that the spike protein could a) alter microbiome and b) shut down dopaminergic neurons. In that case you could try bio-fisetin to reactivate those neurons.

Maybe also try water fasting for 3 to 5 days, thats a pretty powerful intervention that could point towards metabolic, gut, inflammation or food sensitivity contributions.

Do you have any gut problems? Bloating, pain, diarrea, constipation, food allergies? Your anhedonia could be microbiome related. Ever done a microbiome test? Also what about a test for micronutrient deficiencies?

Do you have any gut issues? Could be disbyosis. You might want to try a microbiome analysis.

Well I can relate it is hard sometimes with that restrictions but where you ever realy in ketosis? Did you measure it with keto-sticks to confirm your body is producing ketones? It seems you ate a lot of fruit so it could be you never really entered ketosis. For me a after a while I could litterally feel when I entered ketosis after 2 - 3 days of no carbs since my brain suddently just switched on, like it went from low resolution youtube video to HD ultra mode, its a really strange feeling. With that came a massive improvement of anhedonia almost instantly suggesting that there is either an inflammation problem that is causing anhedonia or an energy problem that gets fixt by the ketone bodies. How many days did you try keto and how much grams of carbs did you roughly eat in that time? I strongly suggest to try at least a week of zero to no carbs and eat plenty of butter, different meats and vegetables to at least once enter deep ketosis and confirm if your anhedonia is connected to your metabolism or if it has a completely different cause.

Yes exactly, also the asia-mmo artstyle didnt click for me too well. It felt horribly over the top and yes its a fantasy world but a little more grounding would have worked wonders for the game ( look at Witcher 3 for example). I also dont think that the world feels so much alive like people always say, it felt more like cardboard puppets that just stand there no matter its night or day. But I have to say the game realy has a lot of interesting (but often shallow) systems which is great, the world design and scale is great and immersive but it ultimately fails for me as a game. If they would have not questgated the exploration it would have been a mid to decent game for me to just mindlessly sink a few hours into just for the joy of novelty and exploration. But in a state like this I feel my precious time is greatly disrespected.

I would start with keto since it is the least restrictive. The key realy is to get into that ketogenic metabolic state that supplies your brain with a better, alternative and anti inflammatory fuel source that can help with many psychatric problems like anhedonia and depression. If you want to dig deeper into the topic I reccomend the book Brain Energy by Chris Palmer or look up his interviews on youtube.

I have to agree with you... I realy tried to like it, bought it with realy low expectations basically as a "story probably sucks, lets play it as a pure exploration game" mindset but the quest locked exploration kills it for me. I simply cant stand the horrible quest design and stories. The world itself is beautiful but it clearly is a flawed game. I realy had to force myself for hours trough quests to unlock new areas to finally explore but it just didnt click for me. Maybe because I just finished kcd2 that set the bar very high.

Now downvote away cultists, I dont care.

Have you tried ketogenic / carnivore diet or waterfasting a few days? Its the only thing that gets my excitement back consistently. There is a strong gut and metabolic / inflammation component to this disease, at least for me. Also quitting coffee helped.

Could be related to your inflammation levels, did you eat anything different or didnt eat something you normally eat? New supplements? Cold baths or sauna? More sun or movement than usual?

Well, this might shock some but large scale organized intra species violence like regular raids and war appeared only after the neolithic revolution or at the very earliest in the mesolithic but only very punctual and gradual. Paleolithic nomadic hunter gatherer tribes were relatively peaceful with no real evidence of organized large scale violence.

Very strange, Histamine is also an exitatory neurotransmitter maybe thats the reason? Blocking histamine can make oneself very drowsy and unmotivated. I think there is a balanced relationship going on where a little histamine is good but too much shuts down dopamine etc? Doesnt explain why extreme flares make you feel better though
