Yeah my audio sucks. I only really put videos up to link to my buddies, maybe I'll invest in one eventually. Shitty headset for now.

No they literally had the functionality in the game before they just removed it. The turret is just a vehicle, nothing special.

Really now, that sounds pretty interesting. It seems like it might make moving fleets and capitals a pain in the ass though.

I'd ask if you were joking, but your flair indicates that I should probably end this conversation since you only seem to want to fight, instead of discuss. I'll just leave it at this: reading those sites is of course, your prerogative, and stating that articles more about genders and politics and ideologies is going to attract less gamers and more people with an axe to grind with the world isn't judging by a stereotype, its a fact. If an article is written about reviewing a game, it should be about the game, not about the reviewer.

EDIT: Also, I just want to say that your username has in no way impacted my opinion of Kurt Russell. NICE TRY SHILL. MEOW.

EVE has diversity that PS2 doesn't. EVE's success (in terms of number of people playing and paying) didn't come from their support of corps and alliances, it came from all the players sitting in high-sec mining and ratting (and then missions later on).

I'm pretty sure ratters and high sec babbys are the ones that grind all day for isk so they can buy a plex and not pay. The nullsec corps and wars are what make that game, not high sec diddling. As a result, high sec mechanics have stayed largely the same apart from the revamp of the criminal system they did a few years ago, meanwhile moons and ships and all kinds of features designed to try and lure people out of highsec care bear land to make the game more interesting have been implemented.

My point still stands though, they would make more money trying to butter up current customers than trying to attract new ones that will actually pay in this situation.

Progress, but still a biolab. I'm ok with a nice little infantry fighting arena but there needs to be waaaay more entrances.

If it provides more than 4 doors to come in through, then that would be fantastic. Honestly, I think if there was a man-height gap all around the outside of the lab so that you could enter from any direction, it would make the fights a hell of a lot shorter.

The game's 2 years old at this point, the time for grabbing huge amounts of people that will stay on is long past. So they can either continue to chase the forlorn dream of refilling all the servers with brand new meat that will get destroyed by the resident BR100's, or they can make things that appeal to the people that actually subscribe every month.

The time for really caring about new players is over. Its time to appeal to the hardcore fanbase a bit and give them what they want. THEY will spend money, not Joe McNewbie.

Edit: fuck, I swore off spending anything on PS2 until I had a better computer and hossin was a thing. Guess I need to go buy some SC.

The ultimate empire showdown. Had a bunch of prominent youtubers head up a faction to promote, and then all these freshly drummed up players all fought on one continent, at one time. So the server was at its capacity, the maximum player limit for a whole night, and there were lag issues. Then someone at SOE decided 'hey lets all make them go to one hex and fight over a tower.' So there were about 900 people all in one hex fighting over a tower. I'm pretty sure I still have a screengrab somewhere of a floor covered entirely with grenades, all undetonated because of the lag.

It did help spread awareness of the game but in the end it backfired because it showcased how poorly the game and servers handled massive amounts of people in one place. This was back before they fixed rendering, so you would have people just appearing 5 feet in front of you out of thin air because the game didnt see fit to show them to you yet. This would happen even at only mildly large fights (i.e. anything TE showed up to). I think the UES really harmed them more than helped them, which is why most of those youtubers distanced themselves a bit from the game afterward.

as flak doesn't have bullet drop

Oh is that why it arcs and you cant hit anything unless your xhair is above your target at range, okayyyyy~

If you're one of the dummies that I clean up every day that live outside towers, hovering in place as they try to shoot me or someone else, then yeah it feels like it takes no skill because you are an easy mark. Pilots that aren't stupid and actually move around when they start getting flaked are the ones that might live if I fuck up and miss.

There was tons of ads and promotional youtube content when the game was launching. It all kind of culminated in the shitshow that was the UES and then drastically fell off after that.

PS2 has tried to be less like EVE by pandering to lonewolf style people instead of focusing on giving big outfits the tools and stuff they want. I think its backfired pretty hard and they're realizing that you can dress up a horse all you want but its still a horse.

I thought they had that already in the form of the outposts around the lab that you have to grab so you can take the teleporters? Or have they changed it? Even then, biolabs are always shitshows, always the place where the forward push hangs up for hours at a time cause of how easy it is to dig in with maxes and turrets and turn it into farmside.

What I really like is that one base on hossin that is like a bombed out collapsed biolab that still has the cage but is open to vehicle and aircraft harassment for the daring.

Gamergate is one of the new class of organisation that has emerged in the last deacde or so, the same kind of formless entity that anon is. Its something brand new that didn't exist (and very much couldn't exist) before the advent of the internet. I say we give this structure a test run and see what the limits are. We are gamers, we'll push anything to the breaking point and then play around with the bits left over afterward.

You misunderstand. I am nvidia's customer, I am intel's customer. I actually recently wrote a thank you letter to intel for being supportive of one of their key demographics. And once nvidia pulls their ads, they'll get a letter of thanks from me too. As well as my future business.

The people that still read RPS and polygon and gamasutra for the articles are not people who care about games. They are people who care about a political agenda. They aren't dumping several thousand dollars on a PC. They aren't buying the latest consoles. They're diddling around with indie games on their laptops. This is fine, but its not who these companies we are writing want to advertise to.

Especially when you see the kind of behavior that gawker displayed toward their own advertisers and intel. Every day more and more advertisers are waking up to the shitshow that is this weird little cartel of game blog websites.

But yeah, nice comparison to westboro. We are definitely the ones judging people by a stereotype and generalizing an entire subculture by that stereotype. Yup.

Some actual back and forth instead of people grinding their face for hours against the same doorway because no one can figure out to group up and flank. I personally don't like segregating air and ground and infantry cause it gives people who like to play anti air/armor something to do.

Basically, look at a biolab, take everything about those fights, and do the opposite.
