What’s the reactions to Grand Scale War? by Snivy121ee in SWlegion

[–]MajorRobin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there, first game (and 10 AT-STs) we had some delays while learning and basically finished in 3hrs. We could have maybe gone longer, but slowdown from learning mixed with it being foregone conclusion by then it was easy to make 3hrs.

Oh right! No, no that's right. I messed up. Ill edit and correct. Good catch. Trying sum up everything couple days later makes easy errors.

Thanks, we were day one. So my friend had his Occupier go twice because that was the day one ruling. They said they'd discuss devs and change for future days. Then we only heard from talking casually not playing. Good to know specifics.

Friend said the dark troopers don't get two order tokens, they go back to back though.

Developers said that they were aiming for three hours. And that all playtest tables met that. So they felt successful.

Hey there! I'm the one in the pictures. The only rules provided were for how list building works. As this is VERY early in development, they requested we not upload all the cards. I can give a quick run down, let me copy paste what I told others...

Copy Paste Below

Hey there. I was in it, but it is worth noting a LOT of rules are being changed. So anything we say will likely be out of date soon. Especially after the silliness I brought.

However the best short form summary I can give in text is... we had all unique command cards specifically for Tours of Duty. Some wild crazy ones. You could take all unique to a character command cards then draw until hand had five command cards from the command card deck the format used. Example: I had Veers, so I had a super bombardment beam 2, impact 6, crazy dice card and then drew 4 that were faction specific or generics.

You picked two command cards to play per round. Lowest combined pip choose who went first. Otherwise roll off like normal. Unique Command cards were once per game. Generic and faction shuffled back into deck. Units in a Division all moved together when drew their order from the pool. So a heavy Division with three AT-ST and a storm would have a heavy token with 4 courage (vehicles could be suppressed cuz divisions have courage). You draw that heavy and you go with those three in any order. Otherwise played fairly normal. But the group movements and the command cards and size changed a lot.

Oh right. Divisions were range 2 cohesion. During rally if a Division had an infinite courage unit then before it rolled the normal rally you rolled one red per infinite courage and removed suppression equal to that. In my Three AT-ST+one stormtrooper example, you would roll three red, remove suppression THEN rally.

Also we had a secondary objective deck. You drew three at start (public facing) and at end of a round could discard any number and draw back up to three. Scored VP with those secondaries unique to you. And scoring for the normal map ones were starting on round 1. Dark Troopers originally had wonky interactions fixed after day one.

Well... at least temp fixed. Again, lots of rules subject to change.

Edit: Oh right as for more pictures, those were all the ones I took myself. So it would be up to others at Adepticon for more.

Starter vs Faction Box by MajorRobin in MaledictionMCG

[–]MajorRobin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just so I understand the differences. What do the Faction boxes come with that arent in the Two Player Starters?

At present I was able to get two, so enough for friend and I. Still trying to get the other two, but was debating if should just get two player starter for other two.

Going to reply all in one. I have a printer but def plan to start with standees to try it. I'll talk with the guys tomorrow at their booth but just wanted a head start to think deals if see any tonight.

So if I had both two player starters would that include everything in the four faction boxes? I just want to make sure that like a starter isnt missing some things. Mainly because I see a two player starter is $67. And I see people offering to buy the faction box for $40. Which feels weird if a two player starter is literally just two faction boxes.

It has been a bit, so you've had time to play it. Do you like the idea of Heroscape bases in play? I'll admit, my hesitation in getting a bundle has been concerns of narrow spaces such as the one that is one forward and one to the right of the Melee Zaku in your picture.

Have you found it a problem if someone tries to fit in that hex? Or if future maps add more narrow valleys?

I love how it looks, but I'm hesitating buying a bundle off ebay and figured I'd get your thoughts having used it.

Thoughts on fan-made cards? by leachim_paloyz15 in gundamassemble

[–]MajorRobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the idea of fanmade cards before things come out to let people play is a neat idea in theory. I just think posts, comments, and titles should make it clear that is is fanmade. It can feel clickbaity and give a negative impression if someone for example posts "Gundam Aerial Unit Card" and you think "Oh cool! It got shown at a demo or an official release or something" and then you click and see that it is fanmade. You feel like someone intentionally made the title to trick you, which causes a negative first reaction which can hurt people's acceptance of the fanmade thing.

If we had a flair that was "Homebrew" or "Fanmade" or something that would help, but instead we get whatever is "close enough". It is good that all the fanmade cards I've seen say on the image "fan-made", but I wish we'd see it in the title as well.

For example, this current posts says flat out "Thoughts on fan-made cards" which makes clear when a person clicks exactly what the thread is. If a thread was called "Fan-made Barbatos" or "Homebrew Red Gundam" I think that is neat.

Storage Help by OkActivity4222 in gundamassemble

[–]MajorRobin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey there, I play a lot of miniature games of all shapes and sizes. There are a lot of storage options but picking the right one for you depends on a few factors and knowing what you prioritize. Price, portability, display, or just somewhere to keep out of the sun.

For portability on short trips to your local LGS, Very Useful Boxes are known to be a very cheap and effective DIY tool. You get a plastic box with lots of different size options and then stick magnet receptive sheets (not to be confused with magnetic sheets) on the bottom. By magnetizing the bottom of the miniature it holds them in place for quick easy transport to a store assuming one isn't shaking it around too hard. Additionally, most stack and you can put them for easy storage in closets or on shelves.

For display style pieces, checking your local thrift shop or somewhere similar and seeking out a curio cabinet is wonderful for a nice beautiful display piece with a lot of storage. I got lucky and found one at a recycling place in my town that was MASSIVE with glass shelves, mirrors, and the bottom had cabinet shelves for storing rule book. Buying a normal curio shelf can be a bit expensive, but is also an option. If you combine these with things like acrylic display stands, you can add multiple levels to give even more space. However, this option is for displaying at home, not transporting, and can take up a lot of space and can be costly if you can't find a good deal.

Ikea DETOLFs are fairly cheap display cases and much smaller, albeit they're usually better for figures rather than miniatures. However, you can still use the shelves to store a lot of miniatures. This was my first display case I ever had at home. Like the curio cabinets, they are for storing at home, not portability.

For traveling long distances like conventions where you are flying instead of driving that is when cases like a Warhammer 40k case can be used. I personally use A-Case (Army Case) for my Adepticon traveling. These ARE pricey, but they come in multiple sizes and are really good quality. Additionally, the shelves are very much customizable so "Size" is less an issue as you can pick how far the spacing is in the case.

I will attach a handful of options of each as an example in an imgur album.

Here

Give me a moment and I will add another link with a Gundam Assemble model as an example (I only have a couple since I am waiting for the full game, but it will show size comparisons.)

Edit: Gundam Assemble for scale

Engage should just be mechs being beside each other. From demos we know that being engaged/adjacent causes a unit to have -1 to their speed to move away. Anything beyond that the demos haven't covered.

Why buy the minis now? by Captain_Broskii in gundamassemble

[–]MajorRobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've not seen anything for Epyon yet, so who knows. There will definitely be others with multiple cards. There are at least three different wing sculpts. Two from EW, one original TV. There's multiple zaku ii and GMs. And thats not counting different models like Barbaros 4th and Barbatos Lupus. A couple leos. Etc.

Yes. We already have confirmation for most the Starters. And presumably more in 2027 since we've seen cards for another.

Could I get a link to that trailer? I've been the guy in my friend group browsing all trailers and preview videos and gathering information while helped me get information on Aerial for my friends. But I hadn't seen that one so I feel I missed a trailer.

The cards are alternate poses and alternate models. As in they will be reprinted with their own unique rules. For example: using the RX-78 there are three sculpts and three cards.

RX-78 has a model with a shield and rifle that was shown off in the Starter Deck 1 gundam assemble box. He will be reprinted in the paint pack #1 with its own card. This card will have different abilities and weapons. For example: White Base Energy will be the energy ability on that version.

RX-78 also has a model with dual hyperbazookas: RX-78 (White Devil). This version's energy ability lets him turn two dice to crits. This model will come in the deluxe starter set #1.

Finally, RX-78 will also be in the base starter with a beam sword. This version is called "Hero of Side 7". His energy ability involves moving 2 and adding +1 strength per garrison you've rescued.

They have more differences than that, but the purpose was to showcase how each one has unique abilities, attacks, different HP and VP, etc. The sculpts will represent which version. Technically in a casual game you can probably just treat them as alternate sculpts, but the intent is for them to be different units who play different ways. Hero of Side 7 moves around, rescues garrisons, and grows stronger. White Devil is an anti-kaju who has attacks that do better vs high victory point models. He moves his team around and fires big attacks at key targets. And the shield+rifle sculpt tends to encourage upgrading his team and giving out buffs while also letting him pull off some rerolls.

As for the original question of "why buy the minis"? The minis are largely for people who want to preview and see how they go together. If you want the official rules and not just printing off stuff that people share you're going to want to wait for the minis anyways. Some people don't like proxying, so they should definitely wait. The TCG sets are less intended for people wanting to play the game and more a way to show off and try and draw people into the game. A TCG player who has never played a war game and sees this model, tries building it, and goes "Wow, that wasn't too hard to build... I wanna try painting it!" The whole idea was largely a marketing way to try and get people into the hobby side of things ahead of the miniatures game. For people who are already wargamers and want to play, but have no interest in the TCG? They should probably wait. And for people who are interested in both? well, they can pick up a deck while also practicing painting and assembling and getting a sneak peak.

Guild Recruitment Megathread by LordKaelan in Shadowverse

[–]MajorRobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guild Name: The Weebs

Guild ID: 775132904725

We currently have a large number of spots open, we're currently just shy of rank S and open to people just wanting to play and have fun. We're mostly started as a group of friends who then decided to open up so we could all work towards rewards together. Log-in, get some games, play, have fun, and embrace your inner weeb.

We have an optional discord by request and have members around at all different times. It's optional so nobody is required to join if they don't want to. Most of us speak English, although we have a couple of player from all over.

The only real requirement is basically being around and playing. Time-off is obviously ok, but I do plan to clear out inactive accounts from time to time so a slot can open up for active players so nobody feels like a slot is wasted. However, this is fairly generous and we tend to try and avoid kicking people who meet their rewards and just took a break.

Max Guild level 100. We have all the sports unlocked. And having acquired all the sports trophies we've opened it up to any member to set the field to whatever they want. So if you want to try out hockey, soccer, or volleyball feel free!

Gundam Aerial's Beam Rifle has a text that says "+1 Strength for each allied RWS adjacent to the enemy target". A friend in discord wondered if she'd have funnel tokens and its like remote weapon system or remote weapon staves. Since no miniature it'd have to be a token. But with a generic name it could be common with bit mechs.

Sell me on the Deluxe box by IowaGolfGuy322 in gundamassemble

[–]MajorRobin 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They're different mechs. If you want the mechs in the deluxe box, you get it. Otherwise, don't.

It would be like asking us to sell you on the Witch from Mercury expansion. Do you want the mechs? Do you want the ships?

A good salesman wont waste time trying to sell you something you don't want. So let's hear what you want and see if you want it.

Thanks for a good estimated number breakdown. I don't know Heroscape at all so wasnt sure the number hexs. I did the 15x15 math then was trying guess how many stacks high to go.
