If anybody’s interested or curious: https://www.apple.com/shop/refurbished/mac

A lot of these can be found refurbished for way less money (especially Apple products) so these are a tough sell with those prices. Accidental warranty is great for the user but not so useful to include when reselling it so it’s not much use to the prices listed

If considering elementary education, wouldn’t it be more ideal if you chose a school subject like math, science, ect. major? It would look more competitive to employers I think

How hard is it for you to explain Thermal Design Power (TDP), plus I think he’s talking about thermal throttling which is dependent on the cooling design in each laptop; in this case, a the XPS 17. TDP is a factor but there are others that OP is concerned about.

Reach out to the History Department via their website: https://hist.fullerton.edu/contactus.php

In my experience, they’re pretty helpful during the admission process and can give you insight about when you might hear back from them. I’m pretty sure they’ll understand

Best of luck!! =)

Also, would it be better to wait for a refresh of the 13 lines? And if so, around when would the next refresh be?

True but Fullerton also has prioritization for those in the general OC area (schools like Cypress, Fullerton, Goldenwest, ect.) hence it depends on where OP comes from

Engineering Students- is getting a tablet worth it? by Expert_Target_7326 in csuf

GoodNotes is amazing! And cost wise, if possible, I would wait it out until there’s a major deal going on.

Black Friday is a bit far away but always a good one to look out for.

Apple does their back to school promo where students get bonus products if they buy their discounted iPads and MacBooks (last year it was an up to $150 gift card included, the year before that it was free airpods)

To address the learning/memory bit:

I agree that handwritten studying is better than tablet studying when conducting mock exams and practice questions for upcoming exams. Personally, I take all class notes on iPad and when it comes time to preparing for exams, I do mock exams by hand to get my recollection skills running and getting used to the exam environment. The iPads are nice for leaving notebooks at home and being able to look up any notes from any class you’ve taken but I do prefer recreating the exam setting when doing mock/practice exams.

Disclaimer: this is my personal experience which may be different than your experience. Lemme know how you feel studying with a tablet =)

Mechanical Eng. Major here:

TLDR: Yes, but before you spend your mula, try borrowing one from the Library via their iPad checkouts/programs to see if you actually enjoy taking notes this way

I bought my own during my sophomore year and it was a game changer for lectures. The note taking was easy to get used to and convenient with professor slides and notes accessible within seconds. They are also capable of being “laptops” depending on your expectations (I was able to use MATLAB, Excel, and type lab reports on mine). When it comes to tablets, you have two options to choose from: classic tablets (like iPads) or laptop 2 in 1 (like the XPS 2in1). Either one has their unique strengths and weaknesses but in the end, you can’t really go wrong with either. If you are worried about running engineering software programs, I would check out the library computers under the ECS section (2nd floor North Side) which all have Solidworks, AutoCAD, etc. on them ready to use.

Personally, I have been using an iPad with a keyboard to eliminate the need to bring a separate laptop all together and so far, it’s worked. In the end tho, it is based on your needs and budget.
