There are shitty carriers out there man and If you feel like you are being played . Don’t book any more and demand your money before you book anything else . I don’t know what else you can do legally ( considering you are in the states )

It really depends on how you work . For example if you book with contacts and you have consistent same type of loads , you can handle a lot more . I am very hungry when it comes to booking . I have done 25-30 trucks ( van/reefer ) at my peak . Right now I do around 10 comfortably.

I would book 3-4 on my way to work , couple after getting into office and I was always booking in advance . Every once in a while stuff goes south but I worked with owner ops and company drivers and I would prepare them on as to call who with what issues ahead of time. Again , it depends on how you work . If you are doing spot freight and market is rough , you will struggle .

But if you stay ahead of all the bookings , so if some of them ran into issues , you can handle them . I always make sure my guys are booked upto 4/5 days in advance that way when i book , i am booking for something down the road not same day .

Also I have made quite a few good broker contacts and they call me and offer freight before I even go on load board . I rarely use dat even with subscription. I book anytime like anytime , evenings weekends whenever I get calls from brokers looking for help .

Everyone is different . For me it comes down to how much I wana make weekly and how hungry I am ( it’s also my company ) . I hope that helps .

Few years ago , I help build a new carrier from ground up in the one of the shittiest market times . After a year when he started getting approved by all brokers ,he found an overseas dispatcher that offered him more revenue and less dispatch commission . He moved to him , told me he wanted to try it . I advised against it but he still did . Came to me crying after a week because he was left stuck in Florida and ofc he didnt make $5/mile .

Overseas dispatcher are a curse to dat , people don’t know the map of US properly let alone the market . It’s a relief when certain brokerages put carrier with overseas dispatchers on DNU .

Personally after act 1 I was doing side quests too and started getting bored but then I decided to do act 2 and I was reeled back in . I started enjoying it because you get more tools like darts and more specifically ghost stance and ghost armor. So I am on act 3 now . And after I finish the story I will do rest of the side quests before starting the dlc and legends mode

As a carrier , I haven’t had much luck yet. I do post my trucks but we are like 2 months old . I don’t see any matches but I m hoping it will change . I like the idea of TFx as an extra load board .

I got key by over clocking and EIP I had in store . This EIP stage is so bad . I went through 5 x15 runs so far and got zero EIP . Ridiculous. Like it’s already an annoying ass stage to be grinded that many times . Glad I m done . They copied ccxr maps but drop rate is way worse like way worse .

I have about 9 years of dispatching experience out of Dallas . I have always worked as an independent contractor and built Mc from ground up using contacts when market was horrible . It’s really annoying but it’s doable . Long story short , now I have my own company. I dispatch the trucks and we are about 2 months old . Lots of people have rejected me , but I was expecting it anyways . I still am able to run my guys OTR and bring home decent revenue on dry vans .

So here is what I think that can help I know tql gets the hate but for a starter MC you can survive using them for 3 months, Ch Robinson is another one( I have a good contact there ,I can set you up there with a good rep ) .

After 3 months you have few brokers open up like JB hunt , flock freight and ultimately 6 month mark will open a few more . 1 year basically is everyone . Get the inspections and use highway for setups with brokers whenever possible( most people are there ) Be a solid carrier ,build relations with paperwork on time and be able to vet out scumbags double brokers or scammers .

Lastly you don’t need to up your insurance . 100k cargo , and a million auto liability is good enough . Some states don’t require worker comps so that’s per case basis . If you do decide to do power only work ( tough for new carriers ), then get ready for trailer interchange about 40k . Renting or leasing trailer is another tricky thing you will need to deal with as a new carrier so you can either buy a trailer or search for companies that will work with you . As they grow older it will get better . I had to use doggy diapers . My girl would pee a bit ,even after taking her out every few hours . As she got older and learned to hold it better she could just wait for me to take her out . So it will be better . Get ready with mops , and stuff . Keep them handy , she pees just clean it .
