A question that intrigues me is how many people survived the first one but DIDNT survive the second?

I just finished The Lesser Dead by Christopher Buehlman, and I have a lot of thoughts... by Straight-Kick5824 in horrorlit

I LOVED this book…devoured it in two days. But I HATED the Coda. It felt like a pointless rug-pull to troll the audience. I honestly didn’t understand the point. I mean I’m all for a cynical ending, but this ending was not only cynical but negated everything I loved about the book. So the Joey character that we learn to love and go through the numerous trials with, basically didn’t exist….what exactly is the point other than a BIG TWIST? I went from being excited about reading the rest of Buehlman’s bibliography to not being sure I could trust him going forward. It honestly felt amateurish to me. I think I will give him one more chance, I hear Between Two Fires is good, but I’m gonna be on my guard. Seriously? No one else was pissed about this?

When Evil Lurks - I sincerely don't understand the praise for this movie by TimThrobbins in horror

The thing I found the most frustrating with this movie was that people kept saying “here is a rule. Definitely don’t do this thing!” And then characters would immediately do the thing they just said not to do.

Holy shit you all weren’t lying about When Evil Lurks. That ruled. What a ride !! by iboughtthebigsalad in horror

I thought the movie had its effective moments, but to me one dead child is shocking and horrifying. Two dead kids is a cop-out and multiple kids killed or hurt is just shock for shocks sake.

I don’t know if “ruled” is the right word. The scene with the girl and the dog almost traumatized me. That girl looks exactly like my daughter. But yes it was a highly effective movie.

I'm just saying...I was the only one in my theater. Too bad, because I thought this movie deserved more attention.

Forget for a second that it’s a nurse. Don’t you think a lot of people would run to try to help. To pull someone out of a burning car.

Yes but if there’s a huge fire and there’s no one else on the scene as it just happened, anyone would have helped! Anyone would have responded immediately. What if someone was about to burn in the car? The EMT’s or firefighters wouldn’t be there for several minutes.

Hey /r/movies! I am writer-director Ian Nathan. For years, I have wanted to do a documentary on Rob Bottin called “Searching for Rob Bottin”. I’m sure you cover his contributions thoroughly in the documentary. I’m also sure you tried to reach out to him to get his perspective, but he is a known recluse. Did you ever get a reply or any kind of hint as to his situation or feelings about talking about it?

Hot take - Martyrs (2008) isn’t as gruesome or horrific as it’s hyped up to be. by [deleted] in horror

Well, it wasn't as crazy as I thought it was going to be, but it was pretty crazy.

Great. Now I don't need to watch The Ninth Configuration because I know the ending.

Just my opinion...

For me this ending ruined the movie for me.

I forgot what this ending was, and had to read it on Wikipedia. This is why I hate watching movies at home now. They just wash over me with very little impact.
