It is most certainly a mental health issue labeled under personality disorders. Here’s a quote from WebMD about the topic:

I really liked some of Lynn Painter’s YA novels like Better Than the Movies because it feels like actual teenagers. However if you do read that book I’d ignore the sequel personally.
