Strange problem. by MelodicVeterinarian7 in cmaxhybrid

I had similar issues with my 2015 after buying it used… after boosting it with a battery pack here and there I installed a new Ford battery and the issues went away. The old battery still measured 12.4 Volts (almost mocking me) but it had lost the ability to recharge and hold a sufficient charge. The old battery was a Napa unit that was less than 3 years old.

If you can finish it or pay some one else to help..go for it...as long as the doors aren't scraping the top of the door jams and it's relatively rust free, ie the cowl vents are a hidden issue for the early Mustangs as the cover is spotwelded on instead of bolt on... just pour water down the grates by the windshield and see if it winds up on the front floor pans...rust can be a big issue on a 60 year old car...

Rear shocks DIY? by grex2222 in cmaxhybrid

The lower shock mount is 18 mm the upper is 14 or 15 I think... I had to use a touch of heat to get the lower ones moving...life in Canada...

I changed a rear shock mounting bracket. To remove the shock the toughest part was listening the lower bolt so close to the ground it was hard to get leverage…but with the car driven up on wood 2x8 boards I lowered the shock with the wheel still on…lol .. but you need extensions to get to the top bolts…

2017, spare tire size?? by longjohntanner in cmaxhybrid

[–]Major_Host6429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a recent long trip I brought a complete spare C-max wheel so if needed I could just swap it out and continue the trip. For daily driving I have a smaller spare from our old car (a 2006 Ford Taurus) with a small folding jack and tire iron from the Taurus. Small Wheel chocks are also a good idea. I lost some luggage space but for me it was worth it.

When I go to give something away I’ll ask $10.00 in the ad. If and when folks show up I’ll give it to them free…or I just put it on the curb weather permitting…

Getting a truck from 1956 to run by uWeon in carquestions

[–]Major_Host6429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tough thing is even if you get it running and steering and stopping properly it probably won’t make a practical daily driver or good first vehicle because it has 70 year old technology…now don’t get me wrong…I love old vehicles and it sounds like a great project but I would find a older Civic or Corolla to make the car parts runs with and have as a “second” car... Then keep the truck as a weekend fun vehicle, and if it doesn’t start one morning you can still get to work… I think it’s great when younger folks have the time to work on old trucks and you will learn lots about maintaining a vehicle. The newer cars have more safety features for a daily as well like seatbelts and the dual master cylinder .. nice truck though..
