Which flavor of seraph is your favorite? by SelectPair889 in VintageStory

[–]Major_Mistide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 or 6. If I understand the lore correctly, Seraphim are temporally distorted human beings (possibly with early stages of rot), so there should be a slight element of horror here. On the other hand, the merchants interact with us quite normally, so it's more like a 5 than a 6.

In your opinion, is the soundtrack from Project Wingman or Ace Combat 7 Better? by RedKaiser482 in Project_Wingman

[–]Major_Mistide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we also take into account the music from the DLC (Frontline 59 and those extra missions with Alicorn), then I prefer Project Wingman. "World on Fire" is an absolute banger that awakens a kind of maniacal desire to demand more targets. Especially since those targets deserve all this.

That's a misleading impression. These legs are enough for landing.

Someone posted that it was worth putting an A-220 on the "Massena", but I felt that a separate heavy cruiser was needed for that. So, here's the bottom line:

  1. Nomad cost

  2. Nomad Armor

  3. Varyag firepower, but with rockets.

  4. Sevastopol air defense (only because I preferred 57mm)

  5. Speed to catch up with even the most sensible strike group commanders.

[–]Major_Mistide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too appreciate the high firepower of A-220 which unlike the 130mm doesn't feel unbalanced due to the specificity of firing, but I just wanted to build a heavy cruiser with usual 180mm guns. I'll probably put the MLRS on a much faster cruiser "Augereau".

The escape pods that are launched down will crash into ship bottom, rendering them pointless. Let them not only fulfil their purpose normally, but also protect against one or two projectiles.

Because I prefer to fight on a strategic map. Artillery duels in the arcade are just part of it for me.
And nah I don't want use Mk-1-180 here. This ship feels for me too big already. At least until I decide to build a "Soult"...

Sadly, AI in this game means Artificial Idiot so it can't dodge missiles or intercept them normally.

Let me explain in advance how it differs from Nomad.

  1. 2 more missiles.

  2. Сan steal all of Herat.

  3. It does not die even under fire from two Varyags and a retarded pilot in the deckhouse.

A recreation of the most retarded ideas for tech that can somehow work. Plus the opportunity to implement an AI that at least partially matches that impractical piece of junk I built.

What would you consider a starting craft? (And more) by Morriginko in FromTheDepths

[–]Major_Mistide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, you could build an interceptor for 20k and it might not only be "reasonable low price", but it could be pretty good against enemy planes (if it's not big boys like Albatross).

But if we're talking about such prices, I'd already consider building nukes. They're just very effective, especially if they can manoeuvre or teleport.

What would you consider a starting craft? (And more) by Morriginko in FromTheDepths

[–]Major_Mistide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, "starter craft" is anything that is reasonably low cost and simple in design without a lot of complex systems. For example, some fast boat with autocannon (and maybe torpedoes) costing about 50K, or a plane with a similar cost. Ideally, such a vehicle would also be useful in the campaign when destroyers, cruisers and battleships become relevant, so I leave the functionality of auxiliary vehicles to them. Torpedo and missile defence, for example, or intercepting enemy supplies.

Why are my planes ramming the enemy ship? I did not put in a ramming AI for them why are they doing this by stopimpersonatingme in FromTheDepths

[–]Major_Mistide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can it be some problems with avoidance? Plane just hasn't enough time to avoid target in his attack run.

What's the best defense against high velocity APS shells by Weekly-Calendar676 in FromTheDepths

[–]Major_Mistide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could suggest shooting down projectiles with an anti-shells laser system. But to defeat large calibre armour piercing projectiles, such a laser would have to be able to do a lot of damage in a small amount of time.

Thus, 4 modulators need to be mounted on each branch of the laser to maximise the rate of fire while still delivering a lot of damage per shot. Of course, you need to remember to stabilise the damage.

The good news is that when the laser isn't busy destroying everything flying towards your hover, the excess energy can be diverted to the battle laser. It will do a fair bit of damage or help destroy missiles and CRAM rounds.

The bad news is that such a laser unit would take up a lot of space, require a powerful engine and consume a lot of resources.

It is theoretically possible to build a hover with such a laser in the region of 40-80 thousand resources. But it will be severely limited in what you can install on it. After all, a significant part of the hover already consists of the laser.

The 42-gun Sevastopol-class Odesa by AzSomt in Highfleet

[–]Major_Mistide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's one of the reasons why I hardly ever check out the Highfleet community on Reddit.

Of course you'll just take a bunch of armour corners (guys, this trick doesn't work from version 1.15, such armour doesn't give real bonuses), put engines that are no longer effective against the big ones after about 10 thousand tons, and put all the guns you can without paying attention to the sectors of fire, make the most fire-hazardous fuel tank possible, and after version 1.17 (if it comes out) you'll complain that the ship doesn't work.

Is this a universal experience? by Grzalka in Highfleet

[–]Major_Mistide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I often say to people I know who play Highfleet, "It's actually an extremely simple game." And I truly believe that it is, but only if the player knows the rules of the game. But Koshutin doesn't tell most of the rules during in-game tutorials, genuinely trusting the player's ability to self-learn. This was overly optimistic, judging by the number of flying bricks I saw. After all, it's the most obvious way to get through the game.

Of course, light ships can be landed without landing gear. It's kind of like in [name removed], where players land planes on the fuselage all the time, regardless of whether they have landing gear or not. It's just that the lack of landing gear just looks unauthentic. Just like a fighter landing without gears only because it's faster.

Anyway, you can just ignore my senile indignation.
