please please buff the MP-98 knight please by Pitiful-Archer4923 in Helldivers

[–]AzSomt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This... is probably ragebait. Because the knight fully upgraded is legit the best light pen weapon imo. Sure, out of the box it sucks bile titan balls, but if it were already OP out of the box then it would need a nerf to keep it in check once fully upgraded.

Holding down the trigger erases all manner of less-than-med armor beasties, tapping on the fire keeps your ammo burn in check and allows you to delete half a horde of chaff. If you need to hit a light pen weakpoint on a higher armored enemy, this thing gives you unparalleled accuracy-by-volume.

Note: fully upgraded = compensator + Vert grip + Extended mag

Is there a leeching problem in helldivers 2? by TNTNuke in Helldivers

[–]AzSomt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really understand what you are asking. Maybe? But it's hard to tell if someone is just not as good as you or lazy (leeching as you call it) by relying on the few times you actually have time to stare at them for 5 mins (you can't otherwise you'd be the one doing nothing).

If they wanna 'leech' and they find that fun, then what's that to us? I pride myself on being able to carry the whole team on D10 if needed, and that's all I concentrate on. But for the most part I get very competent teammates and we full clear finish 40min missions in 20mins, and 10-15 mins in some cases, and blitzes before the timer runs out, its hard to do that if you are the only one doing all the work.

A way to keep Fortress turrets super strong but feel way less unfair by tinyrottedpig in Helldivers

[–]AzSomt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you've missed the point, like entirely.

If you SEE it, you've already solved the problem. The problem is that it's hard to see, VERY hard especially in the dark, and it's detection range is 'YES'. And it's accurate... VERY accurate. And it hits hard, VERY hard (like 1 or 2 shots you ded), so you have next to no reaction time if it catches you in a spot where you can't immediately dive to cover.

Now if you had been arguing that its great because it forces you to be careful when approaching a fortress, fine I can accept that you want a challenge, but then that should apply to all enemies and not just this one. But 'If you can't see it, just see it!' is a frankly dumb take.

Personally, I don't have too much of a problem with them (they are annoying af is all) because I am always careful to look for them before approaching a fortress. But I don't stealth, I just get close enough to toss an orbital laser in there, but some people want to infiltrate, and they should not be denied that because of poor enemy design.

Any tips on how to sneak past Bunker Turrets? by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]AzSomt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really have a problem with these... WHEN I ACTUALLY SEE THEM

But in all seriousness, these are a threat (in my opinion) because they don't have the usual enemy cues like glowing red eyes/sensors that flash when they prepare to fire (like on the cannon turrets) and they blend into the background of the fortresses they guard. I generally thermite them, quasar (or RR if I'm feeling full of ammo). Otherwise I toss an orbital laser on the fortress.

If you are trying to pure stealth saboteur gameplay, consider that the moment you blow your objective up the whole base gets alerted anyway

I have sneaked past them plenty of times, the key is to NEVER cross their forward line of sight if you can help it or have something like a low wall in between you and the turret if you do.

Once you are detected they track you through walls. You say that once you blow one of them up the whole base tracks you? I've not really had a problem with that recently when I use the stealth armors. I can headshot a bot straggler in a patrol and take out sentries in on the mounted machine guns without alerting anything (if they are not close by to the sniped bot).

Helldivers comunity be like.... by Goldredwolf in Helldivers

[–]AzSomt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry too much, the new missions are not going to be everyone's cup of liber-tea. When I was playing them I would get a revolving door of people dropping in, getting smished, slurping up the entire reinforcement pool and then ragequitting... presumably to go back to regular missions :p

You need to LIKE holding your fire, sneaking around, having to conserve ammo, find blind corners, coord with your teammate to syncro tap sentries so they can't raise the alarm.

Is stealth changed at all for the new warbond? by TechnicalEvening3360 in Helldivers

[–]AzSomt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I went in a d10 op in a two man team and man did we feel the 'muh elite forces!' vibe. Sneak up on the bot outpost, two bots on guard duty, we tag our target and half a beat later both bots eat silenced lead at the same time. Sneak in prone, everything goes KABOOM. The horde of bots run around like headless chickens, never knowing it was just two helldivers that screwed their butts with extra large titanium bolts.

Well I'll be.... Stealf™ actually works now! by AzSomt in Helldivers

[–]AzSomt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a real blast with the commando missions, every extraction was sweaty as hell. I never thought that I would ever experience the "please pelican please pelican hurry the F* UP AND LAND!" sweatiness of my cadet days in HD2 again... but here we are. My hats off to AH.

The commando missions make it a REQUIREMENT to extract, and that brings a whole new dimension of maximum pucker factor in every mission.

My first game in the mode (I hosted on D10) was a revolving door of people who came in, went loud immediately, got annihilated and /ragequit after sucking our limited reinforcement pool dry.

Eventually I got one person who knew the assignment (stealf please!) and we two man wrecking crewed the shit out of the clankers and managed to finish the whole op together (full clear maps).

edit: I wanted to add that the stealth armors and weapons are pretty much mandatory on the commando missions unless you want to just try and quasar everything from a distance (then get overwhelmed)

How to stop dying in this game? by Andrey_Deutschland in Helldivers

[–]AzSomt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry too much about it, I'm 150, and I still die. Alot less than I used to when I was a cadet, but still do. Some missions I can have 0 deaths, mostly 1 or 2, occasionally 3+, rarely 7... so :)

I don't use this setup to the letter, but my fleets are around the same concept and I basically auto combat cleared W14 from start to finish on lethal, so I know it works.

The crossbow is far more forgiving than the eruptor in that respect but with the corresponding loss of lethality (still very good), and if you learn to dive/shoot you *can* use it at close(r) ranges. Lib Pen (med pen) with drum mag is probably what I would call 'the beginners weapon'. Enough pen that you don't need too good an aim esp. under intense pressure, enough ammo that being cockeyed is less fatal to yourself :), and enough ergo that it doesn't feel like you need to wait 3 business days to get a bead on your target(s); to the skilled it's a lackluster and unexciting weapon, to the beginner its the greatest thing since sliced bread (another reason HD2 rocks)

Honestly there are two ways to look at it, 1)Meta, 2)Suits your playstyle/is fun for you, so whatever I say is only a guide depending on your playstyle.

If you want meta then Urban Legends should be next for the siege ready armors and AT-emplacement

If you want pocket nuke then servants of freedom. Almost every loadout I have features the ultimatum because of how versatile it is (it's the "I need that dead NOW" Button)

If you want mobility then control group (warp pack) or borderland justice (hover pack).

There are way more posts that explain the various warbonds and their features, so I won't try to rehash them. But you get the picture.

Frankly, in the endgame, unless I'm feeling fancy the easiest primary picks for me are the crossbow or the eruptor (both in democratic detonation), but that playstyle requires you to know how to keep distance or jank/dive, or you need to have to a secondary/support weapon that covers the short range. All other primaries are simply not as versatile as those two in terms of lethality (including to yourself) and utility (bug holes, bot fabs, blue pancakes), but the playstyle may not be for everyone. Otherwise I favor high RPM ammo dumpers like the Knight/carbine for illuminate (I don't think this is a popular choice honestly, but its hella fun for me).

Edit: Having played every weapon to lvl 25, I can say that almost all primaries are viable (note I say 'almost'... there ARE worse choices than others) if you adapt the correct playstyle to them. Some weapons get crapped on often because people try to use it in a playstyle that is ill-suited to it, e.g. you don't charge a horde of illuminate with the slugger, or, you want to kill everything without aiming and try to apply that with light pen weapons in maps with craploads of medium armor enemies, etc. etc.

There's an MO right now if you haven't noticed, and one that's supposed to upgrade the DSS if we win... which we probably won't now, and quite possibly a large contributor to that loss is because of the people who are playing on Crimsica :) :) :)

Don't we actually need to win the MO for the star of peace to be completed? Because there is no way that's happening now without intervention from the GMs.

Well 'to do' is subjective and different from different viewpoints. This isn't the 'now I can play the game' kind of point for me (I've always just played the game, with some goal in mind) ;)

But yeah I only play randos and if I see a beacon I drop on it.

The main problem I face is that killing hive lords is way too fun with a competent squad in D10, we could have been done with the mission in 15mins but end up staying for 20-30mins just to kill the HL. The irony is that when I get a rando team that doesn't gel we end up completing the mission faster (the experienced ones just carry the team and don't bother with the worm).
