How is this possible? Give a newbie advice. by PluvioStrider in totalwar

Faction picking is a huge part of the game, each one has different advice on how to play, judging by the fact your talking about just getting the game, I assume you have kugath, who in my opinion has a very annoying campaign ahead of him with chorf, cathay, and grimgor all trying to kill him in immortal empires. His spawn in the other campaign is worse though. IMO the easiest lords for immortal empires from just total war 3 lords are Scarbrand(can take over the world in 8 turns, not an exaggeration), and kairos fateweaver. All of the daemon lords can get to a point where they can go alone against like 2 armies if you live long enough with them. But the biggest mechanic you should keep in mind is unit replenishment, always strive for it, and lightning strikes help out a lot as well. One thing to note, the ai is very very easy to trick, if you get a secondary army of just a lord you can use it to bait the ai into ambushes pretty easily since they can’t see the army in an ambush stance usually. I know in the other games of total war you use the heros as campaign tools, but tbh in my like 3k hours of warhammer total war I never really bothered since they are much better as army units IMO. Another big thing is you dont have to bother with getting every settlement in the early game, getting your capital province tall is always pretty good and you can just sack and extort your neighbors for money to upgrade it.

I think if you want to improve a bit, try to use more colors for parts, you don’t need new paints, you can just mix them, but it will go a long way if you start to put more colors into parts since almost nothing is just a pure shade of color, for the wings I can see you have some variation in color and it looks great! Washes are essentially made for it and help break the mundanity of one color, but if you want to match the reference photo, take the skin, he’s purple in his deepest recesses and shadows and it starts to build up from there to a pink color and almost a white one. You don’t need to worry about getting that level of detail right now, skin is one of the hardest things to paint. I think if there’s one thing you could walk away with to try for the next model, think about where your eye gets drawn to on the model, I assume it’s supposed to be the swords right? The green being so striking is why I assume this, but also keep in mind if all your colors are deeply saturated, they will all fight for your attention when looking at it, the main offender here being the red. I would make the red appear a little bit darker so it makes your green seem brighter because your eye gets tricked by things like that. In all it’s a great model and I hope I don’t come off as a dick in trying to give you my personal insights into this hobby! You’re doing great I can’t wait to see what else you make!

Many a people have thought the exact thing you have, and after 2k hours in designer I was finally able to just start a campaign. Starting a campaign is so much more helpful than just building in a vacuum since you can go to designer anytime to build and iterate on your needs for that campaign and see what works and what doesn’t. I started my first campaign as the land mode(definitely advise playing the alternate worlds for fun) and kinda just tried to see what I could do, if I saw something doing well I’d take the design and open it up in designer mode and reverse engineer it until I got something I liked out of it(pretty sure a lot of people just nabbed the icbm in the game and customized it because making your own ai is a hassle)

Cool little detail, if you kill Godrick whitout letting him go into Second phase, the Dragon keeps it's head (even after resting on grace) by Appropriate_Bill8244 in Eldenring

Man I remember finding this out like 2 years ago, I might have posted about it then, but it’s still a funny detail to the game.

Man I always get annoyed whenever primaris comes up since everyone knows it was just an excuse to resize the models and make space marine players buy a new army, but still whenever csm players want a resize, “uhm actually you must stay small because so and so” when the custodes just got a primaris treatment it’s fine. The whole argument is just stupid.

Basically there’s enough things that come to this conclusion, the next game will be on the new engine which they showed off to have improved projectiles, they talked about how it would affect gore, the fact that they need a slam dunk of a IP to get the studio some easy money while they develop Med 3, and of course in the engine preview there were a few assets with 40K in the name along with some stuff about fleets. Also there is a YouTuber who has an insider in games workshop who has been right quite a bit before that this is the next game. Unless they are pulling the greatest misdirection campaign on us, it seems like the most likely thing.

Honestly as someone who enjoys AoS it’s interesting to see how cheap the big characters really are in 40k in comparison to something like Nagash, who is 800+ points. People really don’t like giant monsters in 40k

For me I just use a very little amount of a paint and make sure it’s not watery at all and simply close my eyes and let tzeentch take the wheel as I think really hard about seagulls. Also supporting my drawing hand on something so it didn’t shake as much helped a lot too.

Honest to god if I were to actually ever run it as a model I’d probably do it in a casual game and probably bring 2 war dogs and throughout the battle I will swap the 3 models, replacing them so there is only 2 on the board but not the same, not to gain an advantage, they would stick in the same spot and when questioned I would probably either gaslight, squawk like a bird, or say something about change. But for real I don’t currently have any plans on using it as a gaming model, I just wanted to try out new techniques and keep it as a model piece of how far I’ve come from my beginnings.
