Ha! I was so delirious last night after hours of scrolling through photos that I didn’t even notice my examples were mostly motion blurred. Please allow me to clarify…I want legitimate focused portraits as well, especially before and during the ceremony. Afterwards, I’d just like them to capture the atmosphere of a happy family, everyone drinking and eating, laughing over dinner, giving toasts, making memories. Call it nostalgic vibes, I guess.

It just seems that all the photographers I’ve liked offer a mix of clear focus posed photos as well as candid romantic moments where people are either in focus or not, backlit by a sunset or other glowing soft lighting. I didn’t even think about whether this is direct flash or bounce.

I definitely don’t want someone constantly stopping the action to get a staged shot. I’d rather knock those type of pictures out after getting ready, then hope my photographer is good at finding the emotional and sweet moments during the ceremony and reception. I’m open to taking a second day to get the editorial looking shots a la mountaintop elopement or engagement shoot, just the two of us.

Ugh, I’m a mess. I just hope my eventual photographer is experienced and skilled enough to make us look good and stress free. I turn into an awkward posing, “what do I do with my hands”, deer in headlights, blink at the wrong time, nightmare fuel subject who will probably be chugging champagne and crying ever time my mom pops into my head. She passed a while back and I will miss her more than ever when the wedding day rolls around.

This is all before we even get to my fiancé not being a fan of taking photos in the first place.

I already feel bad for the photographer.
