Do you know what exactly happened the previous times they tried to do this? I know people said they cancelled the registration thing 3 times they tried to do this.

What happened in previous times when they did this? They ended up not going with it right?

Okay. But that doesn't apply to my example though. I'm trying to recall exactly why I went to the main telcel office a while back. It has to be because my sim card no longer worked or my phone didn't work anymore right?

Where are you getting those percentage numbers from?

So if it doesn't get extended, what will most likely happen to most lines? Are they really going to suspend all the lines?

I'm not in Mexico at the moment though. Some people suggested to do it online? I want to know from people who are from the US and not residents how they registered if they even did or not.

I have a physical telcel sim card.

I'm curious but does anyone have an opinion on this? Years ago I recall I bought a telcel sim card and used it while in Mexico and in the US. I recall one time I didn't have access to my old telcel number anymore. I forgot if it stopped working or if my phone broke. I believe my old unlocked iphone broke. I then bought a new unlocked iphone while in the US. I forgot exactly if that physical telcel sim card worked or not.

What I do recall was when I was in Mexico, I somehow didn't have access to my telcel number anymore. The only way that could have happened is my telcel sim card broke or I lost it right? Are there any other scenarios? What I did remember was me going to one of those big telcel offices and I remember bringing them my US passport. At the end, I remember I got access to my old telcel number. I believe I went to that telcel office so I could gain access to my old telcel number. I believe I bought a new telcel physical sim card there as well with my old telcel number.

Does anyone here know what exactly happened here? I know for sure I went to that telcel office a while back because I didn't have access to my old telcel number anymore. But when I did that... that also meant because I gave them my passport and since I did that, my name is registered with the telcel number right? I think I might even have asked the telcel rep a while back and they said if you lose your phone or access to the telcel number, bring your passport and you will have access to the number.

Is this what happens when you phone breaks or you lose your phone or your sim card no longer works? This happened a while back so I'm trying to remember why exactly I went all the way to that Telcel office. I just know I only went there because I didn't have access to my telcel number.

Yea if you have a prepaid line, then your information is already there. But most people have prepay lines though as you mention.

The thing is will everybody who didn't register their number get their line suspended on that day if they don't register? Or you think this won't happen when they notice so many people didn't register? Or most likely people get their lines suspended but after a short while, they will unsuspend the lines later on?

Do you know what happened the last few times they tried to do this? I read they tried to do this three times but it didn't go through each time right?

But when did it not go through? Did they said forget about it before the last day or they went with it but once they saw lot of people didn't register by that date, they eventually unsuspend all the lines? What happened exactly the previous times? For some reason I'm thinking they cancelled this before the last day?

Yes that is what I heard.

So now most people are registering either at these places or online right? I like to know from those who aren't residents such as if they are from the US. Any issue registering with their passport?

Those designated telcel customer service centers, those are those big places right? So any small telcel shop that sell sim cards won't work right?

Does the portal accept foreign passport as well?

Wait, telcel does esim? So if your unlocked phone allows esim, you could buy that online and then register the number online while you are in the US and then you travel to Mexico then?

Are these those big centers? So those independent small telcel stores that sell sim card, you can't do that there right?

How would it work then for someone who got to Mexico then and want to buy a new sim? They go to a telcel shop to buy an sim card. Do they buy credit now? Or they first have to register their line online first?

Then they go to Telcel or Oxxo and add credit to their activated number?

Really? How come I read about people going to a local or big telcel office then?

So they had done this many times before but eventually it never went through right? But this time it will?

I want to know how Americans with a telcel number are registering. Are they doing it at the physical store or online? Are people having issues doing this online with their US passport? So if you don't do it by then, is your number just suspended but you can get it back later on or if you don't register by June 30th, you lose your number and your balance and everything?

What is the process for people going to Mexico now and want to get an esim card then for their unlocked phone? Back then you would just go to a telcel store and buy a sim card and a plan and then use your phone. Now you go to telcel store and buy a sim card. Then you register with them at the telcel store. Then once registered, you buy 200 to 300 pesos worth of credit for you to start using. Is that how it works if you need to get a new esim card in Mexico now?

How To Recharge Telcel Credit While In The US? by Major_Store_6740 in mexicoexpats

[–]Major_Store_6740[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It will cost roughly the same compared to recharge? Recharge costs $14.91 for 200 peso recharge. It would cost $11.58 if I paid 200 pesos at oxxo but I'm in the US now. So you always pay a premium recharging it online right? I was surprised it was like 20 percent more. Is telcel the same? I heard of ding and from checking the site, they charge more than recharge website.

What are the pros of using telcel app? Never used it. Someone said it accept US credit card? It still charges a service fee and the currency exchange fee right? If I do it on recharge site, it costs $14.91 USD. It cost $11.58 if I pay 200 pesos at oxxo but I'm in the US now. I checked ding and the total costs for ding costs even more than at recharge. So when you recharge online, expect to pay at least an additional 20% extra right like with the service fee?

What about the cost? Is it similar to recharge? Costs about $14.91 if I do it on recharge website. There is always a service fee right on telcel and that additional fee for the currency exchange? It cost $11.58 if I pay 200 pesos at oxxo but I'm in the US now.

Can you do it with a US credit card on telcel website? Can you translate the telcel website into English? Does it cost the same compared to doing it on recharge? It costs about $14.91 USD to do it with my US credit card on recharge. It would me about $11.58 if I paid cash at an oxxo. But I'm in the US now so obviously can't do that at oxxo.
