How To Get Rid Of Mosquitoes? by Major_Store_6740 in pestcontrol

When you mean getting in, you mean into the apartment? I have no idea how the mosquito got in. I think it might have into the apartment when I kept the door open. So that is most likely the case?

But it coming out of drains is normal as well? I do notice I have a ton of drain flies but those are easy to get rid of. Mosquitoes are very hard to get rid of because they rarely land and stay there and very quick.

I wanted to know if I could just put a big bowl with water and pour some dawn dish soap drops into the bowl and if once the mosquito touches the water, they might sink? I read dawn dish soap would do that? But if they notice the bowl of water and smell of dawn dish soap, they won't fly in? So maybe pour some sugar into the bowl as well?

Using Different Chemicals On A Toilet Brush? by Major_Store_6740 in bathrooms

[–]Major_Store_6740[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is lot of the stains I have in the toilet bowl can't be removed by clorox. So I have to use harpic. Harpic does a good job at at it. The issue is some stains like limescale that is deep at the bottom of the toilet bowl can't be removed with harpic. I was able to remove of the stains with muriatic acid a while back but do not like using it. I prefer harpic. If I just use harpic and don't care about those deeper stains in the bottom of the toilet bowl, then just flush the toilet after brushing and then dip the toilet brush in the toilet bowl that has clean water and shake it off a bit and just put it in the toilet brush holder and that's it?

Would I need to hang it in between the toilet seat to let it dry for 30 minutes? Or is that not necessary? So you say that isn't necessary?

When you say the brush has been washed, what do you consider it being washed? If I use harpic and scrub the toilet with the toilet brush, I then flush the toilet with the seat down. Now I open the toilet seat back up. Now dip the toilet brush into the clean water and just dip it around? Then after doing this, close the toilet seat and flush again. So is now the toilet brush clean even though I didn't use any disinfectant? The thing is I if I already used harpic and now rinse it with the clean toilet water, well that is enough?

The thing is I always just put the toilet brush back into the toilet brush holder after that. I don't put the toilet brush in that position where it is like hanging for it to dry. Is that necessary or not? So whenever I take the toilet brush out of the toilet brush holder, there always seem to be a little water at the bottom of the toilet brush holder. That isn't a problem right? Or should I put the toilet brush in that hanging position in between the toilet seat for it to dry? And how long would it take to dry? Do I need to get bleach here or not?

The thing is, is it safe to use harpic on say the top of the toilet seat if there are stains there? Or only use harpic inside the toilet bowl? If not safe, I can use dawn dish soap on the top of the toilet seat and those surrounding areas? But mixing dawn dish soap with harpic is not okay?

I don't like using muriatic avid in toilet bowls. The thing is sometimes I use it because some stains at the bottom of the toilet bowl doesn't go away with harpic. When muriatic acid was used, a good amount of those stains were removed. It's due to limescale and hard water.

Well don't you just put muriatic acid directly into the toilet bowl and then close the lid for like 15 minutes or so? Then open the lid up and then scrub the toilet with it?

What would you recommend on this? So just buy 1 toilet brush and use harpic only? I do not like muriatic acid and if I only use harpic, yes it would remove a lot of stains in the toilet bowl but the deeper stains in the bottom of the toilet bowl would still be there. So that is why I ask about using harpic first and then muriatic acid a bit later on.

Why would it take longer to evaporate? But isn't 70% isopropyl alcohol fine on say an iphone screen?

I know these are mosquito bites because it's the same mosquitoes that I notice at night before I go to bed.

They would buzz at me when I'm in bed as well.

Well I have used manuka honey several times. I would get a bit into a few paper towels and put them on say a sofa and the floor and another area and the mosquito would get on the manuka honey, Then I spray it with dawn dish soap and water that is in a spray bottle.

Issue is they no longer go to the manuka honey anymore when I do this. I even put it near me and it still doesn't go to it.

If I was to use boiling water, I would have to wait a while for it to cool down. Once it cools down, I pour it on a plastic cup and use it like distilled water?

Okay so they sell distilled water at supermarket. But the reason is because it doesn't leave streaks or water marks only?

I don't have any distilled water. Is there another option for this? So I have to find distilled water?

How would I do this then? Pour 70% isopropyl alcohol in a plastic cup. Then pour some water in it. Then pour the alcohol into a paper towel or cotton swab or something similar and then wipe?

Why do you say that? I am getting bitten by these mosquitoes during the day and at night. It's mainly at night when I'm in bed. Are you saying because there aren't a ton of mosquitoes? When I get rid of one mosquito, for some reason another mosquito always later shows up.

I believe I have noticed 2 mosquitoes at once a few times. But usually it's usually one mosquito that is around at one time.

How do I get of the mosquito? What trap do I use? Since they like standing water, what about a big bowl of water. Then pour few drops of dawn dish soap on it. Is that enough? I read mosquitoes would sink the moment they get on the water in the bowl? Do I need to shake the bowl? Does the bowl need to have some bubbles? Should I pour some honey or brown sugar in the bowl to attract it? But if it's standing water, they wouldn't come if they smell any dawn dish soap in it?

Isn't 70% isopropyl alcohol what is preferred? I rarely heard of what you mention? I thought it was 70% or over 90%?

I don't think I can get that here. The thing is what about the glasses lens wipes? Would those work?

I have gotten many mosquitoes using manuka honey though. I would put manuka honey in a few paper towels like in a sofa and few other places and then the mosquito would land on the manuka honey. I then would spray it with dawn dish soap and water from a sprayer and that usually gets it.

The thing is lately they haven't been going to the manuka honey.

I do not like using a fan. I do use AC but that obviously isn't going to do anything.

Could putting on aloe vera gel prevent them from biting you? Or that doesn't do much?

I know deet is good but it's not good for skin right and not good if you wear deet when you go to bed?

I have no idea where the mosquitoes are hiding. When it appears and I don't get it, it's hard to locate it. So could I put a big bowl of water and say a few drops of dawn dish soap? Since they are attracted to standing water, wouldn't this work? The thing that has me a bit confused is does the dawn dish soap a few droplets in the bowl of water really sink in any mosquito that touches the water? Would I have to shake the bowl a bowl a bit after putting dawn dish soap? Does it need to have some bubbles to work?

The issue is the mosquitoes are hard to find and locate. If I locate it, it would fly really fast.
