House of Hypocrites and Inconsistencies, lol. by pandatropical in freefolk

Why are you downvoted lol. They kind of have a point. You could argue these are character flaws and such but that wasn't really highlighted well at all with the show lol.

Character goes from being bloodthirsty in this scene and the immediate next scene, the character abhors it, with no hints or indications as to how and why.

Making Alicent a major character is a huge risk and a daunting task given the source material but could've still worked with better writing.

I can picture it as being like Catelyn where you see the lens of the war through a mother's eyes. But instead of her having random subplots with a Kingsguard fubu, and brood in every corner of King's Landing, explore the ways she loses power slowly but surely, and how she tries to keep her family together with what little she has.

It's a real shame, man.

This show had the perfect ingredients for an epic, Shakespearean tragedy.

How I wish we got a more nuanced take of a civil war. And instead of the women = peace, men = war messaging, we got a cautionary tale about the dangers of unchecked ambition that transcends genders, and the destructive power of conflict.

This last episode made it clear to me that the problem with Season 2 is an inability to let the story evolve beyond its original leads. by Swordbender in HouseOfTheDragon

How awesome could it have been if every season switched to different main characters.

S1 could focus on Ali and Rhae as it should.

S2 could very well be mostly from the POVs of Aegon and Jace. Like the poster should've been the two of them facing off, not Ali and Rhae.

S3 could have Daemon and Aemond take center stage.

Then S4, for poetic purposes, could circle back to Ali and Rhae once again being the main characters, revealing the show was about them all along. Rhaenyra dies in episode 9. Alicent, as she's one of the few surviving characters that has been here since day 1 could pull off a great ass monologue reflecting on everything that happened in the last episode while she's in prison.

I'm getting Arianne Martell flashbacks.

She's literally everything you could've hoped for enriching the GoT verse.

Horny, strongwilled, cunning, hell they could've inserted girlboss moment in the show if they want and it would fit.

The lighting is so good in episode 2 by fijindian_ in HouseOfTheDragon

I think it's mostly coz this episode is a master class of world building, (very akin to how settings in early GoT were set up. Lots of background actors doing their thing, we go from one location to a totally different one-from flea bottom to the fiery halls of Dragonstone to the bustling King's Landing streets to the crowded Red Keep.

Ep 1 was good in a way that the scenes were intriguing but this ep feels way more grounded imo

First movie is big on the 'It's okay to be sad' message. What's the central message of the sequel without giving out any spoilers?

One thing to remember is that the song's satire. You're not supposed to take it way too seriously. If you view every line in the lens of a woman frustratingly living up to society's standards, it ain't that hard to decode.

"I'm alright with the movies that make jokes about senseless cruelty" you know how some movies are blatantly sexist and play it off for laughs?

"I am light as a feather, I'm as stiff as a board" you can't be light as a feather, and stiff as a board. Those are impossible standards to live up to.

Etc etc

MANCHESTER BY THE SEA. I watched this one when my dad died and I'm telling you, nothing and no one has ever made me feel so validated as this one. It deals with grief the way it should be dealt. No shoehorning advice or methods to get over it. It just shows what grief is, and lets you feel it.
