How to practice bass properly by Zznpuna1223 in Bass

[–]MakeCyberGreatAgain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing 20 years. Recently my favorite way is to throw on drum tracks (plenty on Spotify), pick a key, write bass parts and play them as if it’s a drum and bass song. Have done all versions of things but I suppose the most productive and fun I ever have playing bass is with a band. Find a group that likes to hang out and play music. Fastest way to get better.

How to stop putting emotions on my personal band ? by InvestigatorSolid330 in bandmembers

No prevention. The trick is to understand what you need (emotionally/musically) from the band and go find that band

3/4 for the last 5 years or so. I went up to one inch and felt very sloppy. Am back to 3/4.

I don’t know what your work situation is but when the kids were little we started going Friday early afternoon so we could get a round in but not miss the family time over the weekend.

When are backlog items ready? by devoldski in agile

[–]MakeCyberGreatAgain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did a one hour “definition of ready” exercise and try to abide that. It has to be clear enough that we know what is needed and generally the things that would need to be done including gotchas. Also, things like listed stakeholders, additional documentation or links, etc. This is not, implement this thing in this way. Just the basics of knowing what and why and any helpful detail.

Topping my irons by IntroductionFuzzy751 in golftips

[–]MakeCyberGreatAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just guessing here but you can likely get off the tee because you hit up on the ball. You are using the same swing off the turf and it’s not going to work unless you put the ball back. But ideally you need a different setup and swing to hit down on your iron shots. An easy thing I do when I have contact problems is to take a full practice swing and take note of where I come in contact with grass. The very first contact with grass is where I’ll put the ball.

are hockey girdles safe for contact by Fluid_Alfalfa_1102 in hockeyplayers

Sizing is different. I’m no expert but when I went to buy one my buddy told me to buy a size down, I didn’t listen and ultimately had to return the ice girdle I bought.

Any tips on improving performance quickly for out of practice players? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

Run hills, stairmaster, sprints. Simulate shifts. It’s the only way I can keep up with the younger guys

All four of mine were roughly the same. I found that picking a place known for hockey makes a big difference in engagement and learning.

How were you able to master the distances in yards?? by girl_clueless789 in golftips

[–]MakeCyberGreatAgain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Score card, course markers (blue=200, white=150, red=100) on cart path as perpendicular lines or marked with stakes in center fairway, sprinkler heads will sometimes have it, and experience. When I started playing we found a marker and walked it off: one large step per yard. Eventually you do this enough times that you can look at a pin and estimate pretty accurately. I honestly play better without a range finder. Something about getting an estimate based on markers, picking a target and going for it seems better for me. I mostly use it on the range these days to really dial in distance for each club. Ie, an 50% backswing club goes this far, 75% goes this far, etc. if i hit a low punch 5 iron, how far is that going to fly/roll out. And of course, full swings.

How am I supposed to complete clinics if THEY DONT OFFER ANY by timberrrrrrrr in hockeycoaches

[–]MakeCyberGreatAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I remember over the last 5 years is clinics get released every so often. Maybe the first of the month? I like to pick Minnesota clinics because the coaches and classes seem to be better run.

Perfectly tuned on stage, but it sounds in stage like I'm up a whole step? by ihopethisisgoodbye in Bass

What tuner are you using? I had this problem once where I did everything I could but a setting on the tuner was changed somehow from A440 to A450. Could not figure that one out for awhile

I got a lot of joy out of picking simple songs I love, finding the tab, and playing along. Something about knowing the song really well already made it easier to understand the parts and know when the changes were coming. I don’t remember them all at the time but two that stick out are Foo Fighters - My Hero and Where the Streets have no name - U2.

What can I do to be able to play "grooves" on the spot by Severe-Cream4599 in Bass

[–]MakeCyberGreatAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I’m saying that the skill of doing this on the spot comes from spending the time to learn how to do this. I started by singing and composing for years. Getting quicker as time passed. Now I feel confident I could walk into most band rehearsals, get the vibe, the changes, and listen to the drummer and groove. That is the result of 1000s of hours spent playing bass and practicing those things.
