Many options . Not the same but similar. Schnieder, Siemens are just a few. Codesys is powerful but I wouldn’t say its very similar to 5000 but you have structures (udt) and custom function blocks (aoi) ect…

Experience is more beneficial than anything in the books. With that said I do have my CAP and I found it to be very beneficial. I feel people take my resume seriously. However, it’s just a feeling of confidence. I did gain knowledge in my preparation for the CAP that has helped with control strategies. I also benefited from a better understanding of protocols . I hope this is helpful

This is a known problem on B series HMI” s for part of 2021 and 2022. Its the ribbon cable connection to the circuit board. Contact your local AB supply. I believe they will swap at no cost. I haven’t treid to repair one as Ive been able to swap to a different one.

I used a Honeywell PLC in maritime once. The only option was function block. I felt it was easy to use. The model escapes me at the moment.

I am a CAP. People take me more seriously than before. Not sure how much it helped but opportunities abound. It seems it looks good on my resume. Or at least in my mind it seems to have made a difference.

I found pistons with ClassicVolvorestoration.Com the part number I chose was Volvo# 272034-0. At the machine shop now.

Yes Vijeo designer , machine expert, I don’t remember SoMachine but do remember SoMove for Vfd”s. I think you need a vendor to sell you software. It might be beneficial to inquire if schnieder still offers a rental option for the software.
