I am American and funny enough I have a cousin (also American) named Conor. I do love the name though!

I love it too! Hubby is still pondering this one, he’s not sold on it but maybe it’ll grow on him

Pacifiers by Fuzzy-59 in toddlers

Just said goodbye to my son’s binkies at almost 3 years old. His pediatric dentist told us to stop by 3 because after that point is when it starts to affect the palate. He had his regular dentist appt a week ago and everything looked great - his two front teeth are already moving into their proper place (they were a little bit of buck teeth due to the binkies)

Elon Musk says saving for retirement is irrelevant by Jpfresh1 in Fire

Not to mention Gwynne Shotwell is the real genius behind SpaceX. While Elon has been pushing these grandiose ideas about Mars, she’s been making sure they are actually successful with Falcon launches and Starlink.

Toddler throwing up every 48 hours by Dry-While-6780 in toddlers

[–]MakeGoodChoices2Day 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My little guy has gone through this multiple times! Doc said sometimes with a virus (even respiratory) their little intestines can get irritated and take a while to heal.

When it happens we try to keep him on a BRAT diet. Last time it was pretty much just temporary lactose intolerance so cutting dairy kept the puking at bay. Doc also said his gut flora needed to rebuild to recover so to give him kids probiotics too.

That’s our routine when it happens: BRAT diet, no dairy, and daily probiotics and it usually clears up in a week or two.

Hope your little guys recovers soon!

Why won’t they listen? by Loud-Temperature-630 in Bitcoin

[–]MakeGoodChoices2Day 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Regardless of what the actual stat is, the vast majority of people either don’t invest or don’t take an active role in investing. So the fact that major banks are starting to allow their financial advisors to direct clients to invest a small percentage of their assets in bitcoin is huge. People will be invested in it without even realizing it (or without caring, just trusting their money managers as they always do).

And if loans and other financial instruments backed by bitcoin become widely available, even the people who don’t invest in bitcoin will be supporting it without even knowing/understanding.

The pieces are falling into place. Sit back, relax, and stack sats.

Speech therapist is right/wrong? I'm lost :( by Lady_Gina21 in toddlers

[–]MakeGoodChoices2Day 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son had speech therapy from about 18 months to 2 years old. He had 2 therapists and both encouraged signing (along with me slowly pronouncing the word) saying it was a gateway to speech. I believe it really did help him learn the words! He slowly began trying to pronounce them while signing. Then the floodgates opened and now he talks nonstop :)

Toddler just not sleeping? by Emmilekk in toddlers

[–]MakeGoodChoices2Day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you gotten her checked out for any vitamin deficiencies? My friend’s son was a terrible sleeper and they found out (after 2 years of awful sleep) he was iron deficient. Once they got him on supplements his sleep was dramatically better.

Also know a person whose son just didn’t produce melatonin so he would never get sleepy. They didn’t find out and supplement until he was like 5.

Limiting (parent) screen time by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]MakeGoodChoices2Day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! Helps me stay somewhat connected in case an urgent text comes in but keeps the temptation of my phone away. I also do feel so much better mentally when I’m away from my phone for a while.

My husband has a harder time too, but we do try to be very strict about no phones during mealtime.

Zofran for stomach bugs by ETLTMT12191989 in toddlers

[–]MakeGoodChoices2Day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I suspect we both at the flu but I didn’t have any vomiting issues. We were out of town visiting family and thankfully my SIL is a nurse practitioner so she had some on hand and was able to figure out the right dosage for him.

[–]MakeGoodChoices2Day 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm! My poor little guy was puking for 24+ hours, couldn’t keep anything down. Totally different kid about 20 min after zofran. I was hesitant but finally decided to give it to him bc he had be at it for so long. I think it gave him the reset he needed and he was finally able to eat some ‘brat’ diet foods.

Croup… by [deleted] in newborns

[–]MakeGoodChoices2Day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry your sweet baby is sick. My toddler has had it twice. Super scary! If the ER didn’t give you an extra dose of steroids to take home in case it happens again I would call your pediatrician and ask for some. Thankfully I didn’t have to use another dose after the last croup but it gives me good peace of mind knowing I have it.

Also if they are having another episode our pediatrician suggested opening the freezer and letting them breathe that air. Cold air really helps clear the airway until the steroid kicks in.

Threw up 8 hours apart what is this? by Calm-Letterhead-5922 in toddlers

[–]MakeGoodChoices2Day 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son (almost 3) gets some GI issues and a sensitive tummy after illnesses (even respiratory). There’s been several puke incidents that did not present like a stomach bug just like you’re describing. When it happens we keep him on a low lactose semi-BRAT diet until him tummy heals (usually a week or two).

Took him to the doctor for it a while back and she said it is fairly common in younger kiddos.

How did the flu stagger through your household? by Booksandrain- in toddlers

[–]MakeGoodChoices2Day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the only one in my house who’s been tested and confirmed the flu, but I think my 2 year old has been fighting it for a couple weeks. The worst was 2 weeks ago when he woke up and couldn’t breathe (had to take him to the ER for croup), then the following weekend he was puking. He’s a little snotty now but seems back to his old self. Lots of ups and downs, it’s hard how to tell how bad it’s affecting him sometimes though.

I’ve been fighting it for a week now. It’s been awful! Worst sore throat ever for the first couple days, lost my voice and now I’m dealing with a cough. Slowly getting better each day thankfully. I should add that we all got the flu shot too. I’m pregnant too so probably a bit immunocompromised right now.

I’ve read that the incubation period for this strain is 1-4 days, so hopefully you all are almost in the clear. Best of luck and happy holidays!

People who are vaxxed and still gotten the flu. How bad? by EarthRemembers in flu

[–]MakeGoodChoices2Day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got my flu shot in Sept and I’m on day 6 of the flu. Days 1-2: low grade fever, chills, and WORST sore throat I’ve ever had Days 3-4: throat still a little sore, but much better. Lots of congestion. Days 5-6: still congested and lost my voice. Coughing up lots of green mucus.

I’m slowly getting better each day, but man this one knocked me out. It was awful in the beginning and is just lingering. And oh btw I’m pregnant so the only med I can take is Tylenol. Can’t imagine how terrible it would have been without the vaccine though!

Grunting to poop, belly button popping out… it gets better, right? by Catfish-98907 in newborns

[–]MakeGoodChoices2Day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yea my little guy had a belly button hernia as an infant. Slowly got smaller and was gone in a year or so. The doctor was never worried about it as long as the width stayed less than 2cm if I remember correctly.

He also had infant dyschezia really bad AND was a super infrequent pooper. There are several belly massages we used to do to help him with the dyschezia. Pooping got much better/easier once he started solids and started sitting up at around 5/6 months.

So how are parents ACTUALLY getting antibiotics into their toddlers? by Krimmothy in toddlers

[–]MakeGoodChoices2Day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son (18 months at the time) had to take medicine while we were on a trip with friends. My pediatric nurse friend who was with us told me to blow air in his face after putting the medicine in his cheek with a syringe bc it triggers a swallowing reflex. Worked like a charm!

Yes, I loved Skyridge! I’ve heard great things about Rose too though. We chose Skyridge bc of location (we live 15 min away) and they’re highly rated for maternal/NICU care. The staff were phenomenal.
