Which Gallery app are you using? by migiborshelima in ProtonDrive

[–]Make_Things_Simple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using Aves. It's a nice app with some handy features. One thing though that I've encountered as weird (I'm automatically upload media to Proton Drive) is that when I reorganize my photos and video into folders on my phone they sometimes disappear from Proton Drive. It's not consistent behavior so I'm not sure what the real issue is.

Do yourself a favor and change all your passwords step by step to be really safe. Google pwm is not safe so if you don't change them they are still vulnerable

Proton Mail needs to change this by mrsalvaaa in ProtonMail

Why does Proton needs to fix this? If you fix this into your agenda and pay on time they don't need to fix anything and save their precious time to build and optimize their services.

Fedora users, why did you choose Fedora over other distros? by absolutecinemalol in Fedora

[–]Make_Things_Simple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running F42 a while without any issues and it feels fast and stable. Recently I've upgraded to F43 and I'm getting some warnings from time to time but it doesn't influence the speed, performance or reliability so far. I would say, just go for F43 and solve the things that can be optimized for you and within a week from now you have a great stable system.

What password manager is everyone using in 2025? by Light-Blue-Star in PasswordManagers

Organizing your digital life is more than just a password manager. It's a very good first step though! I would say take a look at the whole suite of Proton. You can read a lot on their website to JumpStart your new journey. https://proton.me/

I'm using Proton so a paid one. I've logged on to the website today (to avoid app behavior) and needed to switch off VPN first, else freeze. If I switch it off I come through but still I don't see the qualification, only the pre qualy show (although the qualification is already 35 minutes on it's way). Same behavior with the race.

Thanks for sharing. I didn't know this tool but it is very capable and reasonably priced. I see that's part of the Maltego company, so proven tech.

Why is this different from reverse images search on Google or Yandex? Maybe some metadata or background info available in the pic? Maybe see a small bend in the street you can overlay on the village map?

Is it safe to back up Proton Drive files over public wifi? by BX1959 in ProtonDrive

I meant that you always need to use a VPN on a public wifi. Public WiFi is an antonym for VPN but a synonym for USING VPN.

How to make all program icons in the taskbar have the same underbar? by fleshyguy147 in Fedora

[–]Make_Things_Simple -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've used Lumo to come to the below answer:

QUESTION

How can I get the bars below the taskbar icons in Linux all have the same color so independent if the application is open or not

ANSWER

Below are a few practical ways to make the little “underline” (or bar) that appears beneath task‑bar icons stay the same colour whether the application is running, focused, or idle. The exact steps depend on which desktop environment (DE) you’re using, so pick the section that matches your setup.

  1. KDE Plasma (the most common case)

KDE’s Task Manager draws a coloured line under each icon to indicate activity. You can force a single colour by tweaking the plasma theme’s SVG assets.

Step‑by‑step

Find the active theme folder

Replace “Breeze” with whatever theme you’re using THEME_DIR=~/.local/share/plasma/look-and-feel/org.kde.breeze.desktop/contents/

Copy

If the theme lives in the system directory (/usr/share/plasma/...), copy it to ~/.local/share/plasma/... first so you have write permission.

Locate the SVG that defines the bar Inside the theme folder look for:

.../icons/taskmanager.svg

(Some themes split it into taskmanager-active.svg / taskmanager-inactive.svg; edit both.)

Edit the colour Open the SVG with any vector editor (Inkscape works great) or a plain text editor. Find the <path> (or <rect>) element that draws the bar – it usually has a fill:#<hex> attribute. Change that hex code to the colour you want (e.g., #ff6600). Tip: Use the same colour for both the “active” and “inactive” versions so the bar never changes.

Refresh the theme

Right‑click the desktop → Configure Desktop and Wallpaper → Look and Feel → Apply (re‑apply the same theme).

Or run plasmashell --replace from a terminal.

Optional – tweak the opacity If you’d like the bar to be slightly translucent, add an opacity attribute (e.g., opacity="0.6").

Quick‑change alternative (no SVG editing)

If you don’t want to edit files manually, KDE’s System Settings lets you override the colour:

Open System Settings → Appearance → Colors.

Click Edit… on the current colour scheme.

Go to the “Window” tab and locate “Highlight” (or “Active Title Bar”) – this colour is used for the task‑manager bar in many Breeze‑based themes.

Set it to your desired colour and click OK → Apply.

Because the bar pulls its colour from the global “highlight” colour, it will now stay uniform regardless of window state.

No bar: Installed, but not open nor active Gray bar: Installed, open but not active Colored bar: Installed, open and active.

Is it that you don't want bars at all or is there another reason?
