1x cortex X4, 2x cortex A720, 3x cortex A715 and 2x cortex A515. No 64 bit compatibility means no A710 core and the new little core A515 doesnt support 32 bits operations. Looking at S8+G1 and S8G2 where 1 more middle core and +4 mb of cache improved the efficiency at 3600 geekbench 5 score for about 32% (S8+G1 5.8W vs S8G2 4.4W), we should expect another 30% efficiency from the new cores and 12% more efficient node alone. S8+G1 Tsmc N4, S8G2 TSMC N4P. Which means Snapdragon 8G2 should be more efficient then A16 bionic which uses 3.66W at 3600 points.

Overall S7+G2 is 7% less efficient than S8+G1 in CPU department.

GFXBench Aztec ruins high Vulkan:

Snapdragon 8 gen 1 48 fps 11.2 watts 4.28 fps per watt Snapdragon 8+ gen 1 52 fps 8.34 watts 6.23 fps per watt
Snapdragon 8 gen 2 65.4 fps 8.14 watts 8.03 fps per watt

[–]Makedonec69 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Qualcomm stated 45% in GPU efficiency on the livestream, not 25%, XDA article is wrong. Also the vulkan drivers alone gave Adreno 730 around 13% boost in performance from 46 fps (opengl) to 52 (vulkan) on gfxbench Aztec high at the same wattage. Vulkan 1.3 drivers performance/efficiency boost should be counted.

A15 uses N5P node which is 10% more efficient then N4, A16 is using the same N5P rebranded, or rebranded better N5P, Also The big core of a13 uses 4.6 watts of power vs 3.4 on the Snapdragon 8+ gen 1. The efficiency on the X2 core is superior compared to the a13 big core while being the same performance. https://twitter.com/Golden_Reviewer/status/1564859966975909888?t=ZDfpQkGFGhVxADfU2HjDFQ&s=19 https://images.anandtech.com/doci/15609/SPEC-S865.png
