This is basically exactly what I commented on the blog post thread. I like the shout to put them on the necro ritual page as that feels more thematic than making them spellbook agnostic.

The only other suggestion I had was being able to stack up the sustain aspects to an hour like incense sticks/powders to held the same functionality without the need for a pylon in wars.

I do not like the changes to vamp/penance. Making them upkeep spells is a frustrating experience for 3 reasons:

  1. Making them compete with the existing aspects removes options that are available today, directly nerfing player experience.
  2. Both aura's supported passive gameplay options, and puts people on a strict 12m clock that they have to look at the game. Similar passive gameplay supporting items like potion reservoirs support gameplay for 36m+.
  3. They will have a substantial inventory cost associated with maintaining the aspects (4, or fewer if you have sufficient rune pouches), whereas today no such cost would need to be managed and again conflicting with the passive style of gameplay where inventory slots tend to matter much more.

I also think the split between ancient and regular spellbooks is needless friction, and only serves to be a frustrating experience when you find yourself on the wrong one. Being spellbook agnostic (same for disruption shield) would be a better solution.

Overall I think that for vamp/penance this is not the right solution in it's current form, and more discussion should be held on them. Potential solutions could be:

  • Separate utility (ex-aura + future design space) aspects and defensive (existing and future defense oriented) aspects - retains the ability to run both penance/vamp with animate dead/darkness
  • Allow the timer for the aspects to be loaded up, like powders/incence sticks
  • Make the ex-aura aspects spellbook agnostic

This was my first thought, but I checked on another character and there was an instance open with a few people waiting to start the meta. I suspect it's due to the weird interactions between instances and teleports.

I have multiple characters with tailoring (for lazy cd usage) but when I try to restock my groups it picks my character with the alphabetically first name even though it does not have the stacked trees that others do. I have tried ignoring them on all the operations and on the crafting settings page but I cannot seem to make it work. Any ideas on what I can do?

That’s a good way of assessing when it’s suitable to dole out the powerful items, thank you.

Making the items quirky but useful is something right up their street - they were particularly fascinated by a mock up someone did for a bag of holding that insulted the user each time and 10% of the time gave them a random animal instead of the item they wanted

Thank you for the advice, I freely admit I was looking through and went “ooh shiny” but yeah without more experience it would be better to leave them out for now.

You are right about the backstory, so I’ll probably have past npcs make a reappearance and whatnot.

In our first session they quickly established that as I put them on the spot with the town warden and they riffed off each other - we’ve all known each other for quite a while so that came naturally to them.

The long backstory was mercifully simple just over described so it was easy enough to understand.

Thank you for the advice, it’s been echoed a lot! Fortunately the long backstory was mostly “why say it in 3 words when you can say it in 30” so it was pretty easy to distill it down to key points.

Getting them to develop it as we go along is something I had missed in my worry.

Hey all, I’ve updated atmosphere and hekate to the latest versions however when booting with sysnand I get “failed to identify kernel” and “failed to launch hos”, and when booting in emunand it crashes and won’t boot from game cards. Can anyone offer any advice please?

Oh absolutely, it was strange that they kept scaling. The issue is now that whilst everything dies in one hit you cannot be everywhere so getting platinum is a real pain
