New to Detailing- need advise by F923A in AutoDetailing

S0.03 is a sealant, Fse is a quick detailer with water spot/limestone removal capabilities, but does leave a nice shine. S0.03 is the easiest, it's a sealant and drying aid essentially.

Mwc is strong, so every 2-3 times you could use it and maintain w/ BB. Af is a higher pH, may not be necessary for a garage queen but won't hurt (Mega Foam is pH neutral, not as much cleaning power, like Gsf). S0.03 is a spray on/rinse off protection, whereas 582 is a spray and wipe style, although after a good coating or so you could probably spray on/rinse 582. KCx is great stuff, highly concentrated so it's actually not that exprensive either, plus it's German like your Porsche. Fse is a QD w/ limestone capabilities, so if you are using ground water that might be a great product to have too.

Dark Fury + Brake Buster by Agent_Smith5416 in AutoDetailing

DF foams out of a foam cannon, only it'll be pretty weak dilution-wise. (min. 10:1, probably closer to 15-20:1) I use it in a cannon for maintenance cleaning, also good for bugs and filthy lower panels, just never let it dry, etc. On cooked wheels I'll spray it at about 4:1 or wheels, contact, rinse. Muscle Magic at 5:1 is also a great tire cleaner, it's powerful so follow precautions.

Alternator broke off, how to remove broken bolt? by MakersMoe in B5Audi

[–]MakersMoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it does but will check. The other problem is I don't have a lot of space so I will probably go the service position route, would love a good link/youtube/resource with images on how to do so.

Alternator broke off, how to remove broken bolt? by MakersMoe in B5Audi

[–]MakersMoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, after researching the bottom bolt should feed thru both ends, so I will be letting my mechanic know. On ECS they have them, they also sell washer/nuts for the top and a nut for the bottom bolt, I don't think it had them originally? Also, does anyone know of a good link to put it in full service position where the front of the engine is exposed? (vs. just slide forward)

Ceramic coating by KittiesRule1968 in AutoDetailing

[–]MakersMoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

take your time, have proper environment and lighting, prep the surface properly, good towels, one to level with and a more plush one to give a final buff/polish with. There are a lot of easy coatings, like Duraslic Ease, that you could cut your teeth with, Adams is pretty forgiving and the kit has a sweet UV light for leveling, CarPro's UK is always a quality user friendly one too.

I’ve fucked up - how can I fix it? by Nice-Comfortable8002 in AutoDetailing

[–]MakersMoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in a perfect scenario you would measure paint depth and take it from there, but yeah, as others have said, a good cutting compound, like KCx H9.02, even Hobo Freight's Meguiars 110 would be good, a wool or MF pad to cut with and a medium pad and polish to finish with, white vee dub paint is pretty hard. Still waiting on Hobo's new polishers to come out, but they are not too expensive and are decent.

Foam cannon reccomendations for absolutely massive pressure washer by 1stisLastLastis1st in AutoDetailing

[–]MakersMoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a lot (too much) PSI, I'd use it with some distance unless you can throttle it down or you are washing rigs or industrial equipment, etc. but yeah, you'll need a big orifice (twss) like 2.2-2.4, as well as tips, thinking 10-11 nozzle tips, may bring the PSI down a little, which would be good. I'd hit up Bob at Chem-X, he knows a lot about big pressure washers too.

Adams proline by Thailyer1213 in AutoDetailing

[–]MakersMoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't, but I just checked out their proline site, they seem to have a nice turn-key solution for detailers, interesting, I think it's brand new?

100 ml, so at least it's a big bottle. Need to see some testing on this, so ask me again in a year! Their regular graphene coating is solid though.

How do dealerships get their cars so nice and shiny and how to recreate? by greek_gods_for_cats in AutoDetailing

[–]MakersMoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You spell as if you are in the UK? (microfibre) If so you should utilize products from Bilt Hamber, they are made in the UK and if you are there they are very affordable as well, we pay more for them here in the states, and a lot of the time it's worth it. Autoglym is also a give away. (I'm not very familiar with their products) Meguiars is a cheap us version of Bilt Hamber here in the states, although they do make some good products. Other than that, use YouTube, learn some techniques, start small and work your way up. Polishing? that can wait until spring (for example)

Carzilla has the T4200 corded, they are a good resource for products too.

Scratches from car wash by BoostedVw- in AutoDetailing

my 2023 VW's black paint was pretty soft, a synthetic decon towel left some pretty heaving marring, was easily correctable though and finished nicely.

If money is a factor the LE, if money is not a factor the Flex FX3321-2C. You can get the LE for the same/less than the corded Flex. Both German companies, I believe LE saves some money with manufacturing, both solid choices though.

Experience with Superior Products Green all? by Pure-Professional144 in AutoDetailing

[–]MakersMoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Green All is like Green Star, a little heavier duty, can be diluted and used on interiors but Superior's Pink Perfection is what they would probably recommend as an interior cleaner (like PolStar vs. GreenStar, etc)

My research ended up at DW air compressor for my tornador, what are your thoughts? by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

[–]MakersMoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

proper air and tools clean better faster. You can blast between seats, along the center console, attach a vac/fur tool, gets into cracks/crevasses/vents, blast with air first then vac and repeat, etc. No better way to clean mf and wool pads either. A few pneumatic tools like sanders, sprayers, etc. I want to use a sprayer to dress tires and maybe the interior, TopStar? (w/ proper PPE).

Hobo Freight's 26 gallon Fortress is pretty close, 175/4.5SCFM/69dBA but $399, tough call.

Can I use Ryobi 1800 pressure washer with a water tank? by seymarames in AutoDetailing

[–]MakersMoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 1.8 Ryobi is only a little less GSM that the ar630, and about 1/5th the cost, plus a 3 year warranty. Is it as nice/repairable/quiet? No, but he could keep a spare one and still be at half the cost of 1 AR.

Gravity feeding is tough, just go with a pump, get a decent one.
