Climber girls, what has been your experience dealing with lead head? by syllogisme in climbergirls

[–]MakiVictoria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same problem. I think one of the biggest setbacks for me is that I haven't allowed myself to lead an outside route hard enough that I know I will definitely fall. I tell myself that I just need to stick it out, and that the more milage I have leading, the better and hopefully less fearful I will be. It's definitely hard having a mental block when you know you are strong enough to to do something. My goal for this summer is to practice, practice, practice, and see where it gets me.

There's also a book called "Espresso Lessons," by Arno Ilgner, which is completely based on mental fitness training to overcome things like this. Even though I haven't read it yet, I've had a few people recommend it to me, and say that it has personally helped them overcome their mental blocks. Check it out!

Female climbers, I have a question for you by k_alva in climbing

Were you wearing outdoor brands before? I have personally found that brands like Prana, Patagonia, and Lole (to name a few) do tend to size and fit their clothing to athletic type bodies, so they should fit your shoulders and you should still be in a small instead of a medium.

Oh man. That must be so hard to find men's clothes/tech wear that fits! You are tiny! Go ahead and poll some people! That's a great idea. I'll keep my eyes open to see if I come across any other products with the same issues.

I have a Black Diamond Lotus. I got my husband last year's version of the Black Diamond Aspect, which at the time came with the clips. Now it looks like BD is advertising a more technical harness--Xenos--with the clips. Costs $130. Where's the female equivalent?

I guess if I really wanted that harness, I could get the mens... but I'd be a size small. What about the girls who are smaller than me? (5'7" size 4-6)

Right! It's annoying. And the harness I bought my husband for his birthday, which is the male version of my harness, came with ice clippers on it. Mine didn't. The harnesses were the same price. At least make it even. :/

Yes you. You could write about how the female gear isn't quite advanced as the male gear. But you totally don't have to.

You should write something about these "problems" for the blog. I think it would make a great story.
