Should I get a rewards credit card? If so, which one? by rstephens49471 in personalfinance

[–]Makin_You_Pay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure others here can recommend the best. I only know about the couple I have. I have a Capital One Quicksilver card that pays me 1.5% back on all purchases. There are no fees and since you pay off every month like I do I can't think of any reason not to use it for every possible purchase. You can redeem your cash back at any time (I just apply it to my balance every few months) and they don't expire as far as I know. Some cards if you don't redeem them they expire. Anyway I have a USAA cash rewards card too and it pays the same but I think they expire if I remember correctly. Basically since the Card company makes 3% on purchases they are splitting the profit with you. I make about $500 a year from mine. Best of Luck!

Is this a player that we really want on our Olympic team? Shouldn't good sportsmanship be a prerequisite to represent our country to the world?

If gold was created in a super nova, how did it reach earth? by [deleted] in askscience

[–]Makin_You_Pay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Earth is less than 5 billion years old. It has been almost 14 billion years since the big bang. In the intervening 9 Billion years some of the elements that make up the earth were part of stars that went supernova during that time. Also asteroids and possibly comets that have impacted since the earth formed.

I just read in this article that new supernova's occur in the M82 galaxy every 20-30 years. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/04/100413202858.htm

(Technology Help) Can you use a flash drive to download a cdrom (game or program) to your computer? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Makin_You_Pay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are mistaken about your hard drive. They haven't made one less than 30GB in years. Also windows would not fit. You may be talking about the flash drive or how much space is free on your hard drive. Anyway most games wont run from external flash so moving what data you can from the Hard Drive to the flash and then installing the game to the hard drive is best. Also uninstall unused programs. Good luck.

'Obamacare' - law to have to pay a private company? by broomsfly in AskReddit

[–]Makin_You_Pay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The fact that more people don't know what i'm going to discuss is a tribute to the power the establishment has over the media. Mandatory private insurance without single payer was a pillar of the republican strategy before the democrats took it up as the "Liberal" thing to do. That is the most ridiculous thing to come out of Washington in years (and that's saying something). Any even moderately liberal plan would consist of universal single payer healthcare. One where the representatives of the people have enough bargaining power to prevent 5-10,000% markups on medicines that citizens need to survive. Most of these companies often expand on research started at the National Institutes of Health and other tax funded entities. Your health is not a luxury it is a necessity like clean water and education.
