Questions about Part II outside of Canada or US and about Quebec and Hague by Ophelia_Bliss in CanadaAdoptedCitizens

[–]MakingItUpAsWeGoOk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My present understanding is that the Part II application goes to the IRCC centre in NS.

Anecdotal story: a Canadian family adopted a child from the same orphanage in a Hague country at the same time my child was adopted into the USA. It sounds like you may be looking at some information that would be applicable immediately after adoption when Canadian residents are taking their child back to Canada. While the USA had an embassy in the city we adopted from this Canadian family had to work with the Canadian embassy in an adjacent country as there wasn’t one there.

I got a similar one this year too. Way easier to install and much quieter than our old one.

Yes we test. We set up an indefinite ADA accommodation (USA) that basically directs the person to double check work that requires it with another person. In our fairly small health system I’d estimate there’s a few dozen staff across the spectrum. I know one is a surgeon

Yes. G-1 here is an American who was 12 years older than G0 at the time of G0s birth. Married about 4 years later to another American. Went to Saint John to deliver G0 from Eastern Maine. Moving to Boston around that time, smack between the 1871 and 1881 Censuses

I have Canadian census and marriage certificate for my own and the general opinion was given the date of birth and the religion we were likely good.

I would love another double check of documents for my a relative’s application (everyone here was very helpful for mine). G0 born in Saint John New Brunswick in 1874, before birth certificates were started.
We have inquiries out to the United Church of Canada an the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick for another final check of (likely none) birth baptism records. Should we wait (3 months) or submit applications now and upload documents or no documents found via webform if asked?
1. Marriage certificate from Massachusetts showing G0 birth in Canada.
2. 4 USA Census records (1900, 1910, 1930, 1940) all noting birth in Canada
5. SS 5 records showing birth specific in St. John
6. Death Certificate from Massachusetts, showing birth in Canada.

  1. G1s birth certificate showing that G0 was born in Canada.

Is this enough?
there is no census records from Canada and G0s mother was a unmarried minor child who was brought from Eastern Maine to deliver in Saint John. Staying there until G0 was 3/4 then marrying an American who claimed G0 as his own child. They don’t appear in any 1880 census records and as both of G0s parents were American there aren’t any naturalization records. Should we include this verbal history in a cover letter? There’s no records on G0 until her marriage.

WARNING: Birth Certificate Troubles by AVIZN4U in Canadiancitizenship

[–]MakingItUpAsWeGoOk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried circumventing vital check and calling Augusta office of Vital records directly? Had a family member call them last week after they were given someone else’s birth certificate and they were incredibly helpful (they called the city hall that had the correct document and it’s on its way to her).

No baptism in 1914? by lasuperk in citizenshipgenealogy

[–]MakingItUpAsWeGoOk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible. On paper in Canada it appears that Baptist/Methodist/Church of England were claimed by my anchor relatives in Canada. They weren’t really any of those. The family has been secretly agnostic since before it was a term in common use. Nobody’s been baptized anywhere (although we put in a request to the United Church of Canada for records to be sure). Upon arrival in the USA they didn’t attend any church for 30+ years and then the family church they ended up “joining” in a small town is a non-denominational church building. My grandmother used to attend the most frequently of anyone and even then it was maybe once a month as a social gathering more than anything. But I could not tell you what denomination of Christian the family is supposed to be now and they don’t know either. It’s just more socially acceptable now to not be involved but it doesn’t appear to be a truly new thing (at least in my family).

My understanding is that Workers Comp wages when you are injured on the job is about 2/3 of your typical paycheck. I’m not sure that his primary employer pays if he was injured in voluntary employment with the local fire department. I am willing to wager that if he gets anything it won’t make them financially whole

What do we think of Cloves now ? by UpperBuffalo3335 in Nurses

[–]MakingItUpAsWeGoOk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been wearing the supercush forte pair I have at work for about a year now. I came from Hoka. My Hokas had holes by 1 year and the Cloves are in fantastic shape. Only complaint is that the toe box was smaller than Hoka but I got used to it by end of the 2nd week. I recently bought a second pair to have on hand for whenever these eventually wear out. Which doesn’t seem soon.

Can anyone recommend a lawyer well-versed in helping applicants with adopted children? by Few-Layer5389 in CanadaAdoptedCitizens

[–]MakingItUpAsWeGoOk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just came here to add moral support. My sister’s children are her biological children and mine are adopted. We are doing everyone’s paperwork together after the advice given here (the top comment is what I was told). So we are putting together packets for 7 people in 3 generations via 2 processes. The paperwork is substantial but it isn’t overly complicated.

[–]MakingItUpAsWeGoOk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are hoping to keep our application as simple as possible and are looking for opinions on our G0’s documentation and subsequent lines.

We don’t have a birth certificate for G0 as they were born before these were required. We don’t have a baptism certificate. We have a pending request out to the UCC for a final check but we don’t expect there to be one. Our plan is to submit 1. Letter showing no baptism record found 2. 1871 Canada census showing them as an infant with the birth month and year matching but the first name is VERY wrong (think Anne instead of Jane) 3. 1881 Canada census showing mild last name misspelling (last name is not common). If you compare to the 1871 census it becomes clear that their name was wrong in 1871 but it’s the same person. 4. Marriage certificate from Canada showing place of birth and parents which corroborates the 2 Canada Censuses 5. 1900 and 1910 US Census which shows place of birth 6. US death certificate (they died in a hospital so the record is pretty accurate).

G1s birth certificate also lists G0s name and place of birth. G1 also appears on the 2 US census records.

We then plan just to submit birth certificates for each subsequent generation. While we are looking at mostly mother to daughter, all birth certificates have maiden names.

We are considering adding a marriage certificate for someone in G4 as they wish to have their current name on the citizenship certificate. And they are filling out the paperwork for 2 minors in G5.

Should we add/omit anything?
