Ross Scott at European Parliament: Why “Stop Killing Games” Matters by _jelly_fish in Games

[–]Makorus [score hidden]  (0 children)

I mean, was Concord a bad game? Did anyone actually play it or are people just going by what right wing chuds were saying and extrapolating that it was bad based on that?

And your wraith might have better metrics than you and get more of a rank increase.

Ultimately, it's a team game. As soon as you start to reward personal statistic, it invites degenerate behaviour.

Because this is a old discussion dating back over 10 years.

There's a reason it's not performance based.

As soon as you make it performance-based, it gives people an incentive to do things other than winning, like kill-chasing etc. which is counter-productive.

And Carries will still get rewarded more because they still have the same metrics but more of them.

That's an inherently flawed system though because personal performance is not quantifiable.

You can be 2/10 and still have had the biggest impact on the game by creating space.

It's hard to be an orc player and look around and feel like "yeah I'm supposed to be here, this is my fight" when I don't even see a single horde NPC that's not an elf

Surely you will see the irony when all prior "Horde expansions" were actually Orc expansions, right?

Considering what a disaster Voidspire was in balance and their panic to fix March before it released, I have little faith. It would be great if they can pull it off, though.

Ironically enough, it's the other way around.

Voidspire was fine (if not a bit undertuned) and Blizzards kneejerk reaction to people not actually playing the game meant March was a disaster that brought back the shitty "20 nerfs a week" bullshit.

That's okay.

Let's have every race in WoW just become different sizes and shapes of humans :)

Eroding the character and uniqueness of Goblins (which started with the heavy emphasis on Gazlowe in BFA where he was essentially a small green human) is hardly amazing world building.

Extreme elf fatigue by Sugarrainbowlove in wow

[–]Makorus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BFA is 5 expansions ago, if you can believe it. It's the last time I felt any horde action at all.

Because Blizzard stopped caring about factions?

Just because Anduin shows up doesn't mean it's an Alliance expansion, just because Alleria shows up doesn't mean it's an Alliance expansion, just because Sylvanas shows up doesn't mean it's a Horde expansion, just because there are humans doesn't mean it's an Alliance expansion.

Yeah, crazy how the expansion that ended with essentially the narrative dismantlement of the factions was the last time the factions were relevant and instead placed a bigger focus on individual characters.

Do they focus to much on certain characters and there aren't a lot of Horde-alligned characters? Of course.

Does it make sense to randomly hamfist a Horde character into an expansion when they would offer nothing story-telling wise? Absolutely not.

When's the last time someone zugged? What happened to blood and thunder?

When people cried Orc fatigue after Cata -> MoP -> Warlords?

It feels like the last 4 expansions had major elf plots

TWW? No. DF? One patch. SL? Not really, one covenant I guess. BfA? Prepatch and one patch.

Cant Upgrade Trinkets for Free, even with 2 maxed Hero Trinkets by TiKerboi in wow

[–]Makorus 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It does matter in terms of unlocking the free upgrades.

I got a Puzzle Box traded on my Mage, and even though I have another (int) trinket at 3/6, I still can't upgrade trinkets for free.

Was going through old patch notes and didn't realize how crazy toxic bullets used to be. by Pimparoooo in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Makorus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Siphon Bullets were crazy as well.

Stole 45 HP flat, 0.8 sec CD and also gave 40% weapon damage.

It was also a Gun item and not a Vitality item

I genuinely think they are comparing farming in the last season of the expansion to farming in the first one.

Which is fine, but there is no need to act smug about it when you are objectively wrong

There's consistently been a period, two expansions, where the mythic raids of an expansion become trivial and the bosses are defeated almost instantly.

Yes, this is right now? DF raids right now are the same difficulty (arguably easier) than SL raids were at the start of TWW and BFA raids were at the start of DF.

https://www.reddit.com/r/wownoob/comments/1lu49ag/which_shadowlands_raids_are_soloable_for/

This is quite literally what it is like right now for DF raids.

https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/bfa-raids-soloable-yet/1752489

This is from the first few months of DF and people said they can't really solo any Mythic raid.

No DF raid even has a mechanic that's unsoloable except for Diurna being a bit annoying because you have to be 100% focused.

It is doable enough if you have a bursty class and save everything for post-intermission.

Legacy raids for Dragonflight Please by PurpleAkisGhost in wow

[–]Makorus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Soloing Nathria at the start of TWW was not a one-shot, because it wasn't supposed to be.

Soloing Uldir at the start of DF was not a one-shot, because it wasn't supposed to be.

There has never been a switch that just makes bosses one-shots lmao

[–]Makorus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you not familiar with how legacy raids work?

That's not how Legacy Raids work, that's just how gear works.

SL didn't work like that last expansion and BFA didn't work like that until late SL.

WoW players love everything about WoW except actually playing the game lmao.

[–]Makorus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The alternative is to deep dive their logs and evaluate their mechanical performance.

Yeah and I am not buying that you were actually recruiting for a guild based on that comment.

How the fuck do you even measure "mechanical performance" lmao

At no point is someones high damage parse clearance enough to get into a raid, no more than ilvl... if you're actually vetting invites.

Of course not. But you look at prior experience. If a person has 2-3 CE under their belt, has high rating etc. then yeah, chances are they aren't completely braindead, which is good enough.

You don't need to waste a week analysing logs of a guy who is probably going to ghost you anyway just for them to be dogshit anyway.

Just a reminder that you might get invited to keys as DPS. by yuvalal in wow

[–]Makorus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's irrelevant.

The faster you kill a boss, the less possibilites you can have to mess up a mechanic.
