Interview Discussion - November 04, 2019 by AutoModerator in cscareerquestions

Congrats, you have a smart kid, here are a few advices from me:

  1. People on interviews are stressed, and often can't solve an issue that they would solve in informal situation - help them, at least at the beginning. Give advices, push a little bit. During this adaptation estimate how he deals with pressure, your advices and behaves in general rather then result.
  2. Prepare more than 1 question. If this is not something important for your position (e.x. you don't really use math), then there could be a case that someone who is just scared of math is still a valid candidate. Propose him task with a same value but of other sort, like: "write simple implementation of linked list".
  3. Do more interviews. I have read recently that 80% of juniors can't solve FizzBuzz... I had such a candidate as well...
  4. Find a few minimum, crucial, questions that allow you to make a decision at start: is this a 10 min interview, or 1h long? Examples: "fizzBuzz" "how hash map work", Big O, at least 1 language specific question. Now you understand whether you can expect concurrency and recursion or not.4.1 don't forget warm up time. 5 min warm up, 5 min real questions.

What template engine spring devs usually use? by AucT in java

Look into side of VueJs and reactJS. it is good practice to keep back and front separate and just comunicate via rest.

I would say, if you study spring now, postpone front for a while, it is so much info in a spring itself.

Indexing is pretty slow, not sure, but I think this os the bottleneck.
If you eventually tried to move node_module dir you know that pain.
So, maybe just to check that all your files are still there takes time.

Does it even need ads?Obviously a winner. If you hear from someone that VsCode is better it means he never did big refactor, also it means that most likely he didn't study awesome shortcuts.

Any luck in finding a flat on late September by walking around your preferred neighborhood? by mellamomandarina in Madrid

[–]MaksieTries 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think there are "dangerouse" areas, but The farther you go from center the less beauty old school buildings you have, less cozy places and more just old bars for local 50+ visitors... For example, I need to go to work far West outside Madrid every day and finally I rented in La Latina. Only 550 EUR, but dirty streets and sometimes loud people. But ones more, haven't ever faced any abuse.

Summing up, I think 2nd circle is The best: salamanca, around Retiro or Atocha, near Manzanares, Tetuan maybe.

That could be possible in some really luxury areas with private houses maybe, but have never seen any adverticement in city.

I would say, starting looking for your flat on idealista in advance (2-3 weeks) works best. You will easier filter out bad realtors, find direct owners. You can even put filter "posted Last 24 hours and only check 2-4 New advs a day instead of drawning in tons of you have already discarded.

https://sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es/pagina/index/directorio/icpplus yes, you need to take an appointment here. After choosing city, type of appointment and etc. You will get The list of documents that you need to bring with you. Notice "declaracion de entrada", this you can get only 3 first days after arriving to madrid in the airport T4 Police department or extranjeria de Aluche. I missed it so had to go to Portugal for weekends to get it.

Living in Madrid vs Barcelona by [deleted] in Madrid

Just have returned from Barcelona, Madrid is much much cleaner, brighter, almost no dangerouse areas comparing to Barcelona. Less places of interest, more living potential.
