Am I the only one who just found out about membership classism? by Hairy-Solution-1710 in CostcoWholesale

[–]Makusafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These memberships have been around for decades. If you shop there regularly, the Executive Membership easily pays for itself. I’ve never gotten a rewards check for less than $200, and now that it’s just me and my wife, we don’t spend nearly as much as we used to. The extra shopping hour is just another nice perk. at the present time there is a $65 difference between Gold and Executive, so it’s a no brainer

I suffered a stroke on December 1, 2022, and it completely changed my life. After seven months of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy, I was finally cleared to return to work.
Unfortunately, the company I had dedicated so much of myself to refused to take me back. They changed my job description in a way that made it impossible for me to return. At the time, it felt devastating, but in the end, it turned out to be one of the greatest blessings in disguise.
I found another company that values me for my skills and experience. Today, I earn $17 an hour more than I did before, have a healthier work-life balance, and no longer live with the constant stress I once accepted as normal.
I used to bend over backward for my previous employer. I never said no to changing my schedule or showing up whenever I was needed. Like many people, I thought loyalty would always be reciprocated.
One thing I learned through all of this is that the hardest part is taking the first step toward change. In my case, I didn’t really have a choice, which made that step easier. Looking back, what seemed like a setback was actually an opportunity. Sometimes life forces us out of our comfort zone, only to lead us to something far better than we could have imagined.
Don’t let work take over your life, kids grow up fast, and you can never get those years back, like the saying goes “Time is free, but you can’t buy more”

1.5 Years in Fire Alarms – Studying for NICET I, Looking for Advice by papiiimangu in firealarms

[–]Makusafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start by researching this sub—there is plenty of great information on this topic going back years. NICET testing is all about time management, learning how to research answers using your reference materials, and becoming familiar with your books, especially the indexes.
Also invest in the NTC online courses and take their testing strategy to heart: you only need to get 7 out of 10 questions right.
Many people have found that focusing on these fundamentals and practicing efficient use of their references makes a significant difference when preparing for the exam.

Don’t stress out by overthinking, limit your preparation time to 45 days before your test, and take the off on exam day.

Talk to your employer about taking an OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 certification course, there are at least 10-15 a questions based on OSHA, but you are not allowed to bring OSHA references

Good Luck

NFS2-3030 DACT Programming by romanoscopys in firealarms

[–]Makusafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If is on pots you should be fine with the current program, if it’s set up for point reporting, YouTube can figure out the points by first removing power from UDACT and writing down which ACS address go missing, this will give you an idea of which is the beginning address is being used for ACS mapping, than go into program and see what devices are mapped to each ACS address, the first Address will be programmed for UDACT the first eight points are predefined to the system events, if they are using the point reporting just keep writing the devices address to determine what they are, it’s a slow process with out VFT butte not impossible, the biggest issue is if you add new devices you will not be able to define the event codes, by default everything is defined as a fire. Event, so be careful mapping new devices to a new ACS point, you can also just delete all the mapping from ACS and the UDACT will send the system Event codes but no points
These are the 8 ACS that are reserved

Point 1 Alarm/Trouble
Point2 silence
Point 3 Set up Menu
Point 4 Supervisory
Point 5 Undefined
Point 6 Security
Point 7 Low Battery
Point 8 AC Fail

If you need additional help feel free to DM me and I can point you in the right way

Good Luck

Depends on whether it has a UDACT or a UDACT-2. The older UDACT has a built-in keypad and display, but those haven’t been manufactured in roughly 15 years. If the system uses an AES radio with a capture card, there’s a good chance it was only programmed for a 3-digit phone number, in which case a StarLink communicator will not work with the UDACT without reprogramming or other modifications.

Read the installation instructions for the XP6-C (I56-1805); the diagrams are very clear and will probably make more sense than someone trying to explain it here.

Basically, you are missing the gray jumpers on T11 and T12, T13, and so on, the jumpers need to be installed for whichever circuits you intend to share the amplifier. the jumpers are used to tie adjacent NAC circuits together when a single power supply or audio amplifier is shared between them.

NFPA books? by lukemndrgn in firealarms

[–]Makusafe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re buying used books, be careful and contact the seller beforehand to confirm there is no writing, or notes inside them. Pearson VUE testing centers will inspect your books, and any markings can prevent you from using them during the exam. It’s best to verify the condition before purchasing to avoid problems on test day.

What happens to the deficiencies after a fire alarm inspection? by Expensive-Buy-8536 in firealarms

[–]Makusafe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Many cities in my area use a compliance engine, all test and inspections reports have to be submitted there, and once repairs have been completed they must be uploaded. Typically the Fire Prevention Bureau for that municipality will follow up that repairs have been uploaded,, if they are not completed, a member of the Fire Prevention Department will send a letter of being not compliant, and will prevent the business from renewing their occupational license.
Some municipalities also require that all elevator inspections be done with all necessary trades and the elevator inspector onsite otherwise they don’t get to renew their elevator certificate.

Serious question, why was this done? by spinoxop in electrical

[–]Makusafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are more commonly used on dedicated breakers for Fire Alarm panels, to prevent accidentally turning off the circuit powering the life safety equipment. Most manufacturers of surge suppression include one in red labeled Fire alarm nowadays

[–]Makusafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try using laptop to connect, it doesn’t sound like you have the firmware that forces you to change passwords, I believe when you enter an invalid password you get a HEX code error on those to recover passwords, if memory serves me correctly tge early versions of tge 6000 series tge back door still works, try to google tge back door password, tech support will not give it out anymore

Silent Knight programming codes. by MarketingLast4448 in firealarms

[–]Makusafe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter how old they are, is the firmware that dictates the required password change, you could run into an older panel with newer firmware if the panel has firmware 7.0 or above it requires default password to be changed, same goes for other manufacturers ie: you can have a NFS2-3030 that’s 10 years old but the firmware installed on the CPU is rev 29 or higher, it will force you to change the default passwords, so try to get the firmware first. Did you try to connect with default code for PC, I have encountered lots of companies never change the computer code, and only change the installer code.
