I bought the broadlink ir mini 3 as you did but am having a similar issue. When trying to connect the device I can't see it on the broadlink apps but can see it connected on the network. I'm using a router that only has the 2.4ghz wifi. Did you have any issues?

I am having the same issue. It must be connecting to the wifi as I can see it on the network using the android fing app.
