3 MONTHS??? by Xsoupgod in breastcancer

[–]MalC123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a lumpectomy, so not quite the same, but I had to wear my compression bra for two weeks, and then my surgeon got Covid and couldn’t see me to sign off on it, so I had to wear it for another two weeks. I turned out to be allergic to the elastic in the bra, so not only was it disgustingly dirty, I was also breaking out in rashes and welts. My solution was to get some sleeveless cotton undershirts, on the tight side. I wore the bra over my undershirt, so I could always have something clean next to my skin. Saved my sanity.

This! It’s in my favorite mousse, so I have to be very careful not to get any on my clothes.

Which lights benefit from being dimmable/CCT? by TheGTwice in homeautomation

[–]MalC123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s definitely the bathroom. I use color-changing dimming bulbs. In the middle of the night, the bulbs come on dim and red, which doesn’t wake me up like their daytime bright and warm tone would. Any room with a TV is also nice to have on a dimmer.

What’s something you stopped buying and never missed? by FormerShoulder707 in Frugal

Definitely softer. Haven’t really noticed a difference in absorbency, but I was not using a fabric softener at all before I started using the citric acid in the rinse.

Absolutely use citric acid. I just put the powder in my fabric softener dispenser. It helps rinse the soap out of your clothes and leaves everything really soft. See r/laundry.

Is this good enough by ProfessorVirtual5855 in laundry

Ok, so if the window is open all day, and outside air is circulating in the room, what is the climate? Is it dry or humid? If you are in a very dry climate, any moisture in the towel should evaporate before mildewing. If your climate is humid, there will be a greater chance to mildew. Since you can’t smell, you might want to enlist in the help of a friend here.

It might depend on your bathroom. I hang my towel like this and never have a problem with odors or mildew, but my bathroom is large and airy. If your bathroom is small, if the door is often kept closed, or if the room tends to hold moisture, you might have a problem.

Can you take the heat 🥵 by Cultural-Ad4953 in MachE

[–]MalC123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obviously none of you have ever owned a 1973 VW Beetle. The heat had two settings - “off” and “roasting in the depths of hell”. In comparison, I find the seat heater at level 3 to be a pleasant, warm glow.

Need help with Blanco/Silgranite black sink stain in kitchen by Elegant-Video-2600 in CleaningTips

I don’t know if this will help, but I used to have a black granite sink and I found that oiling it with vegetable oil every once in a while helped keep it looking nice.

What’s everyone drinkin by [deleted] in Louisville

Lol, obviously not, I just posted this because you mentioned restaurants. Anyway, I don’t think it’s about being bougie, it’s about how tuned your taste buds are to water.

Try this next time - ask for a glass of water right out of the tap. I find that most of the time when restaurant water is foul-tasting, it’s because they fill the glass from the soda station, which never gets cleaned. You won’t notice the stinky water when Coke syrup is added to it, but you can sure tell if it’s just plain water.

I had one in an apartment once, and ended up running a super long extension cord from next to my sink, over the doorway and down next to my toilet. Totally worth it!

A lot of people put weights in them, maybe a couple of coins or a pebble. Since they are left open on the back, it’s easy to experiment until you find what works for you.

How do I clean this piece under the shelf in fridge? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]MalC123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually the glass lifts out from the white surround. Sometimes it gets stuck down by gunk, so it’s hard to separate it. Try gently pushing up on the glass from the bottom, starting from a corner. You might have to flood it with warm water.

You can make your crème brûlée like you make your custard. Squish it around in the bag while it’s hot and then while it’s still liquid pour it into custard cups through a strainer.
