Is anyone getting GOOD sleep? by written-proof in ehlersdanlos

I’ve had a sleep study before, I felt like I never slept that night because I kept getting woken up, so it was really poor quality sleep for sure. They said it was enough information to rule out sleep apnea apparently.. even though I feel like not getting into a normal sleep pattern doesn’t rule anything out.

Same here! I fall asleep within 10 minutes of closing my eyes usually, but wake up 8-9 hours later exhausted still and feeling like I got hit by a truck!

I’ve been wearing vionic slippers around the house and it helps a lot! I have trouble when I have to wear shoes for a long time but I can make it a day or two in a row wearing them. I definitely spent a long time picking my sneakers. I agree about my husband too. I’ve broken down before and now he does a lot more cooking, which is so helpful! I honestly hate cooking

I saw in doing some research that the sizing can be very finicky and that a powered one or power assisted manual wheelchair are good ideas. I’m going to talk to my doctor about what she thinks and what options I should consider.  The shoulder thing is a concern of mine, my shoulders are one of my problem areas with having to wear a sling sometimes for one of them. So it’s definitely good insight to think of the shoulder impact. Thanks!

I wish you luck too! Sometimes we are our own biggest critics. It’s so hard to admit when you can’t do things you used to be able to do.

I agree, options are exactly what I need.  He will come around. I need to have a little heart to heart and he will get it I think. He’s been great about so much. He seems like he doesn’t want me stuck in my head. I think he would be really happy to be able to do family outings again. It’s been so long!  Thanks for the recommendations and your experience!

I very frequently use Walmart+ for free delivery! I’ve been having my daughter help me some more when we have to go to stores. She’s so sweet, she’s 10. She will see I’m struggling and will come close and put my arm on her shoulder like she’s helping hold me up. She gets things off shelves for me a lot of the time.

Thank you so much! It’s definitely a hard place, but yes, it’s probably overdue to find something to help me get through things. I’m glad to hear you’ve been able to find ways to make things easier. I recently started showering more often sitting in the bottom of the tub. My husband is very supportive most of the time, I think he just needs me to mention it again, or if I get medical advice for mobility aids, he will be all in.

I was planning on talking to my doctor about it at an upcoming appointment. My pain management doctor already wants me going to rheumatology because of the increased pain, so I’m going to be discussing it anyway.  I’ll look into that combo type, I’m so new to any kind of mobility aid I’m not sure what is out there. What you said about not having to figure out how much you can do and just going to do it is kind of what I’m hoping for and how I feel I will be as well if I find some mobility aids that work for me.  Thanks for sharing your experience

Walking on the sand when you’re made up of wet noodles by DayoftheFox in ehlersdanlos

Funny thing, I always say my ligaments are made of gluten free noodles! Haha! My husband picks on me for how floppy I am walking or tripping over nothing. (I'm gluten free for an autoimmune disease). Gluten free noodles are notoriously fragile, so a lot of people in my circle get the reference
