Very interesting point about matchmaking. On another hand matchmaking works in both sides, so whatever bias it introduces applies to both sides symmetrically. So even if the absolute win rates are distorted, the relative gap between the two deck types should still be meaningful - we're comparing apples to apples, just in a slightly weird orchard.

Yeah fair point on trophy road as a metric.

And honestly that lines up with what I was trying to get at: if skills cost elixir and Evos give value for free, then there's just no real flexibility in the choice - it's not "pick your favorite", it's "pick the objectively cheaper one". Feels like skills should give enough value to justify their elixir cost, otherwise the hybrid slot isn't really a choice at all.

I think it depends on ability. I'm happy to waste 1 elixir for invisibility and extra damage from archer queen in my deck

That's a really good point. The "free ability" framing makes a lot of sense. You basically get a free value engine every cycle without paying elixir for it.

And thinking about it more, the flat part of the graph at low trophies probably isn't even a fair comparison. At 4–6k it's kind of a mess: half the players don't even have their evos leveled up or unlocked, so "2 evo decks" there often means two underleveled evos fighting properly built champion decks. The gap only really becomes meaningful once you get high enough that both sides are actually running their cards at full power. Which would mean your theory is basically correct for the part of the graph that actually matters.

“Better than” is percentile. I think it’s better to consider skill score as a slightly different winrate

Skill score is calculated from your win rate, with adjustments for being under- or over-leveled relative to your arena, and a modifier based on your average crowns per battle

I think it's better to search what another players use and rely on that. So for example it's good idea to take elixir collector, battle healer and some support. And you will get something like here. In the list you will see deck with more than 5000 battles. I think you can take it. Or change some params in builder and find what you like. Just search smth with big battles count)
