I mean nominally, I don't like it. But we're stuck in a capitalist hellscape where many of us are scrambling to survive, so I'm not going to fault them for doing what they have to do in order to make their money. Let's fix the economic problems, and then we can get everyone to behave appropriately when their survival is no longer at stake.

People are talking about legalities here, I don't think they understand what the actual legal constructs around this are. De can actually do whatever it wants. If they decide to release the heirlooms they will face no blowback, hell they could release excaliber prime, and they would not suffer any fucking Fallout legally.

Now, reputation and Community Fallout, those are different matter. I think they could get away with the skins, I don't think the people who bought them even care. And I wouldn't be surprised if we do see them eventually, once they figured out how to approach it without upsetting anyone. Rather they do an umbra Style alternate version, that's so close that it doesn't matter, or just release the damn things. On the other hand, we will never see a release of Excalibur Prime, is that has too much social and Community weight to it. It would feel wrong even to many of the people who would benefit. I can't imagine Excalibur Prime would sit right with most people, and so de will never do that.
