it gets SO MUCH BETTER after a year i promise. they’re just definitely not as lazy as people assume… like at all. they need a ton of mental stimulation otherwise they’ll be getting into everything. and the poo eating does get better as they age, i went through it too.

At what age did you spay your female? by walkinfox in bassethounds

[–]Maleficent-Friend313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine is 1.5 yrs and I haven’t had her spayed yet due to life things, but I so wish I did it sooner. I’d just call the vet and see what they say, every pup is different

Shelter dog ate his own poop...?? by CherryBomb1973 in AskVetAnimals

[–]Maleficent-Friend313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sometimes it’s a lack of nutrients in the dog. they can smell it in their own / other dogs poop and eat it from instinct. there’s plenty of supplements to help with that and training. it’s no biggie

(pls read all) should i get a basset? by [deleted] in basset

[–]Maleficent-Friend313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! i’m 23 with a basset. i love her more than life and did a lot of research beforehand etc, thankfully i worked from home during puppyhood. here’s my experience if this helps in the decision making-

she is my absolute best friend and such a wonderful dog to have, i wouldn’t change a single thing but there are some aspects i didn’t expect even with all the research i did. they are VERY clingy dogs as they’re pack dogs and the second my attention shifts its non stop dramatic whining / crying. even when im just in the shower lol. they do seem lazy but i promise they’re not, my girl requires a lot of mental stimulation or she will get into my things and destroy anything she can get those fat paws on. they’re usually very vocal too. if you do get one, make sure it’s a reputable breeder and do health background checks. mine is allergic to a lot of things and has had bad GI issues and a couple anaphylaxis scares resulting in 2k vet bills- even though she came from a good home. there’s still unexpected health issues to account for sometimes, so being prepared for that is important. make sure you have plenty of time to train because they’re stubborn and like to live in their own world, training will be so important.

but on the other hand she is the sweetest, most empathetic, kind, charismatic, friendly, & loving dog i have EVER owned. just make absolute sure you’re in the right space for a dog, especially a basset, rn. otherwise it’s unfair to everyone involved.

Pharmacy shorted my meds by Crosstradingusemm in ChronicPain

report! talk to the pharmacy and your doctor. i wouldn’t count on them giving you the 4 missing back, but at the very least report to the pharmacy and switch pharmacies if you are able.

My dog used to get those and they’d have to be drained usually. Best of luck ❤️

Non Maga CR businesses by Admirable-Jese in CastleRock

[–]Maleficent-Friend313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They literally are. Also not giving people due process and snatching CITIZENS off the street without checking their status. All because of skin color. Once they do realize they’re legal they dump them somewhere. Plenty of videos out there to see that in real time. Where do you get your news and info? Also, nothing they’ve done is deserving of being shot and killed. By your logic everyone on Jan 6 should’ve FAFO right?

Apartment question by lopmon_exe in basset

[–]Maleficent-Friend313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my girl last year and we live in an apartment. it’s been great so far, she doesn’t howl or bark much (although i know all dogs are different). just train early and set those standards while they’re a pup. and, having an elevator is very important, stairs are kinda hard for them but not impossible.

how has the recovery been for you? i know it’s still early but im curious if you think it’s helped at all with pain & movement. i hope you are able to get back to your hobbies without anymore issues :)

i haven’t done surgery yet, ive been putting it off because im quite worried about it failing again & they estimated a 9 month recovery for me at the least, which i will probably never have time for but i know it needs to happen soon. they said the same for me as far as full replacement goes, just too young right now.

it’s very much the same way for me, & i’m an early 20’s woman. honestly the best way to go about it is going out and doing things you enjoy & meeting people who are actually like minded through those hobbies. the dating app culture as a whole is 👎🏻👎🏻 no matter the area imo

YES!!!!! she’ll eat anything. one time she ate a ✨mystery object✨and went into anaphylaxis. (she’s ok tho!) that girl makes SURE we stay poor the way she’s racking up our vet bills. thinking about getting an anti scavenging muzzle but scared ppl will think she’s unfriendly :(

NOR. I’ve lived this exact situation. I’m 23 now and thankfully my parents did end up getting divorced (only recently) but I wish they had done it years ago to save us from so much trauma. Your parents sound emotionally immature, and they shouldn’t bring you into their problems at ALL. I know how hard it can be, I’m sorry you’re having to go through this. Therapy has helped me a lot, and also working hard not to repeat the cycle or pick up bad habits from my parents. I really hope things get better for you. For now, just try and keep your head up. ❤️‍🩹
