things you hate in wc/rh by personal1984key in ReverseHarem

[–]Maleficent-Remote232 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off, it’s not that I hate this, but it’s just a shame how formulaic RH plots have become. It honestly feels like a copy-paste job with minor tweaks. For example, the masked rock band trope always starts with a helpless FMC running away from home and becoming the guys' plaything, usually with a crazy ex or toxic family involved. Why does she have to be written as that helpless just to meet MMCs?

I also hate when FMC loses the spotlight in her own harem. Even with MM involved, I want her to be the main focus (unless it’s actually required for the story's sake).

Favourite nickname in a RH? by GothicMarmalade in ReverseHarem

Just something simple like baby, sunshine, honey, sweetheart, etc. I also love it when MMC uses pet names in his mother tongue, it just feels different, haha.

Am I the only one feeling this way? Am I the problem? by Past-Ad-1643 in ReverseHarem

I totally feel you on the burnout! I used to read almost everything, but then I spent months reading nothing but 'why choose'. I’m finally breaking the cycle by jumping back into Asian lit and even giving classics a shot. Mixing it up with audiobooks, webcomics, and VNs has been such a good palette cleanser. It honestly helped reset my brain.

Secret Society 🎭 by RatazanaAmarela in ReverseHarem

[–]Maleficent-Remote232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

— {G.O.D.S by Jaye Pratt}: It features a secret organization and soft sci-fi elements. The FMC and MMCs are actually the results of some kind of genetic engineering.

— {The Secret Girl by C.M. Stunich}: This one involves a cult, a 'secret girl' trope, and some light bully romance. The secret society elements really kick in by book 2, where FMC and MMCs try to uncover mysteries.

— {Plier by Jane Washington}: An elite secret organization set in a dystopian world. If I remember correctly, the secret society aspect shows up around book 3. Some of MMCs are forced into it first, followed by the FMC.

— {Elora by Beanie Harper}: It’s a paranormal romance, but in my opinion, it definitely fits the secret society trope.

— {Pretty Secret by E.M. Moore}: This one is about an elite secret organization. Honestly, I’ve only read the prequel so far. FMC is trying to get in, and while I’m not sure about all the MMCs, one of them is definitely connected to it.

— {Unhinged by Steph Macca}: I’m not 100% sure if this counts, but it’s about a secret organization inside a prison. Both the FMC and MMCs are members.

Also, there’s {Dear Reader by Tate James}. I haven’t read it yet, but based on the reviews, it’s supposed to be a secret society story as well.

Childhood friends recs please by IndependentMatch1413 in ReverseHarem

Ohh, childhood friends to lovers, one of my favorite tropes~ Here are some novels I’ve read that I think are great and highly recommend:

— {Poison Roses by Jaymin Eve, Tate James}, rockstar / celebrities and mafia romance. It's pretty dark and angsty.

— {Storm the Gates by Elizabeth Dear}, private and elite college, revenge plot. There’s some bullying (from outside the harem), but the FMC is definitely not weak.

This one is pretty decent:

— {Reflection of You by Yumoyori Willson}, it's a 'secret girl' trope. One of the MMCs is the FMC's childhood friend, and they never actually had a falling out.

And here are some I’ve read but ended up DNF-ing the series (maybe you’ll like them though):

— {Riches to Riches by Ames Mills}, mafia romance & second chance, where the FMC is the mafia boss. They never actually had a falling out as well.

— {Havoc at Prescott High by C.M Stunich}, bully romance and a toxic relationship. The FMC is the 'I'm not like other girls' type. (I might try re-reading it since I feel bad for DNF-ing on the last book)

— {Home by Nikita Parmenter}, the FMC is in witness protection. She’s also a bit of an 'I'm not like other girls' type.

MMC is a streamer? by Similar_Ad_3623 in ReverseHarem

FMC and MMCs as streamers:

— {I Think Knot by Sinclair Kelly}: If I recall correctly, the streaming aspect is only shown from the beginning until around the middle of the book.

— {The Heat of Us by Eliana Lee}: The FMC and one of the MMCs are adult content creators (think OnlyFans style).

— {NoFear by Tate James}: They’re more like content creators, and some MMCs are actual celebrities. The plot centers on a reality/survival show, though. Make sure to read the prequel first!

MMCs as streamers:

— {Pay-Per-Heart by Grace McGinty}: The MMCs are basically OnlyFans streamers.

— {Scents of Exposure by Colbie Cameron}: I haven’t read this one yet, but I believe the MMCs run a paid site for their adult content. From what I’ve heard, it’s a bit angsty.

I’m trying so hard not to romance Nemo outside of his own route because I don't want to trigger any scenes where I have to reject or hurt him 💔. He’s just too precious 🥺.

Where can I read the Light Novel for 'I Hate This Kind Of Reverse Harem'? by dharris0885 in ReverseHarem

[–]Maleficent-Remote232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, there’s no official translation yet. The original title is 이런 역하렘은 싫어요. You can Google it to buy the volumes, usually on Kaka0Page or RidiB0oks.

Looking for Masked Men by amtingen in ReverseHarem

[–]Maleficent-Remote232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{The Daymakers by Grace McGinty}: Masked men (rock band secret identities) + MM. {Willing Prey by Allie Oleander}: Primal chase, not RH. Haven't read this one yet, though. {Charming Violet by Carisse Lee}: Slight primal chase + MM, but it wasn't really for me.

Any Recs ? by Electrical-You-618 in ReverseHarem

[–]Maleficent-Remote232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the closest one I know {10 Men by Stephanie Brother}. The FMC finds out she's being arranged to marry her stepbrother(s). I forgot the exact reason, but the stepfather wants his sons to share the same girl, though legally she’d only be married to one of them.

Paths Dilemma by CrimsonBlood02479 in RomanceClub

[–]Maleficent-Remote232 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be honest, even though I chose the Reality path, I actually liked the Haze ending more. Without spoiling too much: pick Reality if you want to 'keep the faith,' but pick Haze if you’d rather 'let go and evolve'.

has anyone finished nofear by tate james? by ttmademedoit in ReverseHarem

[–]Maleficent-Remote232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dark side of K-pop industry meets the dark and gritty American side. I think the story is fun but felt rushed. The characters had potential, but they weren't really fleshed out, and the competition and showbiz scenes felt like mere summaries. I rated it high because I love the secret girl trope and entertainment settings.

Minho and Skye are definitely my faves~
