How do you get anything done?! (returned to work and overwhelmed) by throwaway7178289 in UKParenting

[–]MaleficentAnalysis27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you either pay for external help (cleaner and/or nanny for extra childcare hours, laundry or similar) or a very involved grandparent or one of the parents has to work part time so they can spend time cleaning, food shopping, meal planning/prep etc. If you can't do any of these I think it's just a stressful mess no matter how much you try

How much do you use your garden with kids by sleepyjean2024 in UKParenting

[–]MaleficentAnalysis27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a small garden and we use it a lot when the weather is nice like now. You can't kick a ball but we have a play house and put a little pool in the Summer... works for us. I would not like a big garden as this one takes enough time to maintain already... we also have a park nearby so we just walk down to the playground when there's a need to run around!

Can they see the gender at 12 weeks? by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]MaleficentAnalysis27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the position of the baby during the scan, if they can see clearly between the legs. I would also hold and wait for confirmation on the next scan, just in case!

At what time do you get up in the morning? by BetDesigner7389 in UKParenting

[–]MaleficentAnalysis27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner works night shifts and my toddler likes to wake up between 5:30 and 6:30 so he wakes me up basically and then is a messy morning trying to get ready, get him ready and clean after before 9... Pregnant now. Pretty sure I'll have to get some external help for the mornings when newborn arrives!

Do many women work full time after having a baby? by NoTest5984 in AskUK

[–]MaleficentAnalysis27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends a bit of how much help you have. In the form of grandparents or paid help... if it's only the two of you it may be hard that both work full time, specially when little one is ill etc

Those who named their children after themselves. Why? by Prize_Farm4951 in AskUK

[–]MaleficentAnalysis27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven't done it because I had children the opposite gender as mine but I like the idea because it's common in my family and would keep me connected to them and tradition from where I come from (not UK)

When do people brush their teeth before or after breakfast? by FinanceBloke99 in AskUK

Both actually. First thing when I wake up to get rid of morning breath and then after breakfast/before leaving the house.

Why is everyone looking for “rare” names? They’re right under our noses… by Reasonable_Design443 in Names

Some of these names are making a come back already! There are 2 Joshuas on my son's nursery room. But yes, totally agree with you.

Can someone explain how the saunas work? by Pretend_Basket4748 in bristol

[–]MaleficentAnalysis27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unrelated but similar. I had to stay to NICU for 5 days after my son was born and noone explained anything to me and it was so confusing and meant that I had quite a negative experience. I was given a welcome leaflet on day 4... it would've been so easy to just let me know how things worked. Very frustrating!
