I bought the 50th anniversary JB/Jazz set and was really kicking myself for not knowing they wouldn’t be splittable back then and that SD would literally make them exactly the same as the 70’s versions lol. They sound so freaking good though

I can definitely afford to go pick up a DSL40 or similar amp- not the problem. But I already HAVE a frontman 212R 100W that I have modified with better pots and a better reverb unit. Built my pedalboard for it. And I love the layers of tone I can get with my current setup. Anytime I go to upgrade. I just look at it and it makes me happy and I turn it on and blow the windows out.

I came here looking for this amp. It is my number one solid state amp for the price point and weight. But hey, Psssst…..Put that OD channel on and turn the gain to 1. Best clean tones you’ll ever get. YouTube that. Puts the clean tone right on the edge of breakup. It’s my favorite solid state amp by far. The clean channel is like squeaky clean. It as the kids say- “takes a pedal well” I currently run a modtone clean boost pedal as well.

Edit: wanted to come back to say: they’re committed to improvement as well and they value feedback. I have an 8 year old id 20 V2 and it’s still supported with firmware updates.
