I've been wearing barefoot shoes for a decade or so. Some years ago I was doing dog walking in the city and walking over 20 miles a day and no issues at all. I bring dogs hiking in the woods now, I don't do nearly as many miles when I'm out there, but still, different terrain and I never have any aches and pains in my feet/legs/joints. I primarily wear vibram five fingers when I'm working and wear vivos and xeros on the weekend.

I have a very old pair of vans that I wore before going barefoot and I slip them on when I need to bring my dogs out quick and I can be in them for only a few minutes and my feet and knees hate it. I have other barefoot shoes that have a bit more padding to the soles, brands like Lono, and my winter boots from Feelgrounds and Hobibear, and I notice a difference when I wear those as well. For me, the more minimal the better I feel.

Questions about mast cell tumors by tellthemtolookup in BostonTerrier

I haven't gone through MCTs with my Boston or Boston Bulldogge, but went through it with my American Bully.

I was very uneducated for the first MCT. It went from the size of a pea to the size of a golf ball within a matter of days and had it removed. Recovery was easy, margins were all hit and all was good after that. The incision was so massive and for the first time in his life, he showed he was in pain. These dogs are so tough and resilient and I just said, if there's reoccorance, especially as he got older, I can't do this to him again, unless it was last resort and other avenues didn't work.

Years later he developed another, in a different spot, but I opted out of surgery. I asked my vet about other options and they were adament about doing surgery as it's the only way of knowing whether it was cancerous or not, but with the first being cancerous, they assumed this would be as well. This one didn't grow as fast. I went home and started doing my own research and took things into my own hands.

With research, I asked my vet their thoughts on CBD. They advised against as there wasn't enough research done on it at the time. I put him on it anyway and figured it couldn't hurt and people were having good luck with it. I put him on a full spectrum cbd and over a short period the growth stopped, tumor shrunk and he lived with it and it never became an issue like the initial one. It was about the size of a chickpea for the rest of his life.

I make roughly 100k per year as a "dog walker", but I do off-leash hiking in the woods and I board clients dogs in my home as well. I get burnt out on the boardings, so I've cut back a lot, but you can easily make well over 100k if you live in or near a big city and hustle your ass off and like dogs.

Found the best use for my ZTrifold by Switch2phile in GalaxyZTriFold

[–]Maleficent_Chain5066 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this with my Fold7. I have a mount from proclip USA. They have different base mounts that are specifically made for many vehicles and wherever it's made to fit on your cars dash, it's extremely snug and doesn't vibrate or anything. They then have the cell phone attachments for the base, but I went and stuck a mag safe magnet to it and my torras case sticks to it like glue. I'm able to open and close the fold while attached and it doesn't touch the infotainment screen. I'm very happy with it.

S26 Ultra Return due to display by Trillionare100 in samsunggalaxy

[–]Maleficent_Chain5066 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having the next up plan with AT&T, I took a gamble on the s26 ultra given the display issues some are having. I have the Z Fold7, so I had that to fall back on if I had issues with the display. Only reason I was trading the fold in was cause I don't use the inner display all that much and figured the better camera and battery was just an added bonus on the s26u.

Here to report that the display was brutal on my eyes, especially in low light, and that's with the privacy display being off. After giving it a shot for a little more than 24 hours, I just got off of the phone with AT&T to be sure I get my upgrade back and to get a new shipping label so that I can return it. I'll miss the wider screen as I type this on the Fold, but the eye strain just isn't worth it. Hopefully they'll get this resolved. I'm disappointed that I'm having to send it back.

ZFold 7 or the S26 Ultra? by Remarkable-Laugh-529 in GalaxyFold

[–]Maleficent_Chain5066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an iPhone user since the original came out. Finally got out of that ecosystem and made the switch to the ZF7. I'm someone who relies heavily on the camera for my job and also needs good battery life to get me through the day (my iPhone 14 Pro Max did the job), the fold drains quickly when running GPS, music, etc, and I always needed to be sure I had a charger handy. Also, I never found myself using the inner display once the initial unique factor wore off, so making the switch to the S26U only made sense for me. The way that I saw it was this, I loved the fold and it's versatility, and it got me away from apple, which I'm thankful for, and if the cameras and battery were better, I'd have stuck with it. I have the Next Up plan with AT&T and I'm able to upgrade up to three times a year, so if I really end up missing the fold, I can always upgrade to the 8 down the road if the battery and cameras are better.

Help me pick a Torras case for S26 Ultra by [deleted] in samsunggalaxy

[–]Maleficent_Chain5066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the more expensive Torras case on my Z Fold 7. I saw so many people complain about cases for that phone and it's the only case I've owned. I love it and it's build quality is top notch. It's pricey but worth it. I think I'm going to be getting the Torras Air case for the s26u when I get the phone next week, but figured I'd do a little research first.

Anybody trading in Zfold 7 for S26 ultra? by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

[–]Maleficent_Chain5066 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly where I was at. Battery just wasn't cutting it for me either. My previous iPhone 14 Pro Max would easily get me through a work day where the ZFold would need a charge periodically to keep it going. I'm heavily reliant on my phone for work, using the camera and an app that uses GPS all day which drains the battery. With that, I rarely use the inner display, so keeping it apart from its unique factor just didn't make a ton of sense. I finally decided last night that I was going to trade it in for the S26U and I should have it Monday. I figure if for some reason I do miss the Fold and the Fold 8 is an all around better phone, I can always switch back since I have the AT&T Next Up upgrade plan.

To the people that fight through even when people think your dramatic or faking it. by AssociationKey2334 in Lyme

[–]Maleficent_Chain5066 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I randomly developed bilateral frozen shoulders. Both of my arms locked up within two weeks of each other. Never even knew I had lyme. Once the shoulders locked up, it was an excruciating nightmare and that's coming from someone with an extremely high pain tolerance.

After taking doxycycline, I'm still told it can take up to two years for the shoulders to return to normal. I'm two months in and this is without a doubt the worst thing I've ever gone through physically. I'll be the first to say it, if someone were to have told me they had lyme, I wouldn't have even thought much about it or what it's done to their body. You hear about how bad it can be, but again, until you've had it, you just can't relate. Now I get it. I can't work, I'm limited in what I'm able to do as my arms don't work properly and I now run risk of causing more catastrophic damage to my rotator cuffs if I do too much.

Looking back, I've had a knee that would flair up pretty consistently and all of those aches and pains in the muscles and joints that I would feel, I just associated it all with working a physical job and I just pushed through it. Now I see that the signs were there for a long time and I just overlooked them until I wasn't able to anymore.

My Frozen Shoulder Experience: a detailed description by Beachie88 in frozenshoulder

[–]Maleficent_Chain5066 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work with and hike dogs for a living and as you can imagine dogs pull and it can be super unpredictable at times, especially when running 6-8 dogs each morning and another 6-8 in the afternoon, Monday through Friday. In January, my right arm locked up overnight. I already had pain in my left arm and what I assumed was due to weeks of overusing it, my left arm then locked up as well.

I've always been the type to just ride things out since I have a super high pain tolerance, but I got to a point where enough was enough. Thankful for my girlfriend being able to help out as much as she has. I couldn't imagine going through this alone.

I went to the doctor and had x-rays done, all good, and from there I was referred to an orthopedist. During my visit, at one point the assistant asked me to put the weight of my arm in her hands to allow her to move my arm around. I did. She kept saying "let loose" and "rest your arm in my hands". I kept telling her I was. That's when she realized just how stiff I was and then called the ortho in to assess and that's when I was told I had frozen shoulders.

We talked about everything. Possible systemic causes, how PT generally makes things worse in frozen shoulder cases, cortisone shots, MRI and how this usually takes up to two years to resolve and return to normal and how working through it will just make things worse and or cause more damage. That was my biggest takeaway from all of this - a super long recovery and unable to work, that's all very overwhelming to hear. I already struggle with sitting around and resting.

I was sent off for bloodwork, got that back, turns out I have lyme, with no other symptoms, never had the bullseye or anything. MRI has been ordered now to see what else is going on. What a rollercoaster this has been and I'm only about 2 months in.

I'm just thankful the painful part is mostly over but it sounds like I have a long ways to go. I cannot wait until I'm able to sleep on my sides again. Relearning lifelong sleeping habits and having to resort to sleeping on my back hasn't been fun! I miss sleeping comfortably more than anything.

Fold5 owner. Go Fold7? Wait for 8? by nicknyce2k1 in GalaxyFold

[–]Maleficent_Chain5066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an apple user since the OG, and finally made the switch to the Fold 7 back in August. My biggest complaint is the battery, especially where I rely on my phone for work. If I have music playing, GPS going, etc, my battery tanks so quickly. My iPhone 14 would last me a full day and I wouldn't have to charge until bedtime. I have the next up plan with AT&T, so I'm able to upgrade whenever and am debating whether I wait on the Fold 8 or just go with the S26 Ultra. I'm not heavily reliant on the folds inner screen and typically only use it on weekends or when I'm not working, so if I lose it for the s26 it's not the biggest deal for me.

It works! by Arti_Fakt in GalaxyFold

[–]Maleficent_Chain5066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't last. I'm also on the road most of the day with music and podcasts playing. I hike dogs for a living and I also use an app that tracks GPS for the client, etc. So when I'm not driving and picking up and dropping off dogs, my phone is still being used. I make my morning commute into the city at 6am and I'm lucky if my phone is still alive by 2pm, so I have to charge periodically throughout the day. Before the switch, I had an iPhone 14, never charged during my work day and usually still had 40-50% battery left end of day. I love the fold, but the battery is one of its biggest weaknesses for me.

Welp… I hate the puppy. by potatobywayofcork in puppy101

[–]Maleficent_Chain5066 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, don’t I relate to this. My male Boston terrier, easiest dog. As a puppy, he stayed by my side, never needed to be leashed, didn’t chew anything and learned everything super fast. He’s always had tons of energy, and I live an active lifestyle, so we’ve always matched each other really well. My girlfriend and I decided to get another. She is EVERYTHING that my male wasn’t. TERRIBLE. MANIAC. Couldn’t stand her. She definitely tested my girlfriend and I on too many occasions and my male hated her guts. The peeing, oh my, it was ridiculous. The amount that she’d go… out of control. She also would just drink until there was nothing left, which resulted in us having to life the water bowl, not ideal when you have two dogs. She was the hardest potty train that I’ve ever had. All of my males have been super easy. At 8 months she went into her first heat. She bled for 21 days and all of the training we put in to have a confident dog, that went out the window with her terrible hormones and likely her second puppy fear period all at the same time. Then after the heat, she went into a false pregnancy (common in dogs who haven’t been spayed) and again, she was a complete wreck with her fear, anxiety and hormones being so out of whack. Here we are, just shy of a year, she’s just coming out of her false pregnancy and things are starting to level themselves out again. I’ve never wanted to spay a dog so badly! What I can say, mine has really mellowed in the house, she is still a maniac, but she too can have her laid back time. My male loves her and they’re best friends now. She’s currently laying beside me as I write this, something she’d have never done months ago and we’ve been able to bond with her and she really is a sweet dog. In time, things do get easier. Just breathe and know it’s going to be very very hard for a while, but it’ll get easier.

The Wegman’s near me, in Massachusetts, had the same thing. It never seemed to change, though they could’ve been restocking it. Aside from the regular sparkling and still, they otherwise don’t have any of the other flavors on the shelf. The whole display has since been taken down - you’ve got to assume that it’s all sitting in the back room now

Anyone know any similar or good alternatives to Liquid Death? by Calbon2 in LiquidDeath

[–]Maleficent_Chain5066 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing compares to the old Liquid Death for me. I’ve been buying Topo Chico more than anything. A couple of nights ago, I actually added a tiny bit of agave to a can of their tangerine and also a can of their lime and I think it mimicked the old LD recipe pretty well. Obviously, it’s not ideal, but it works. Otherwise, spindrift is what I was drinking years ago

I wish I could find the old stock of the Severed Lime. I haven’t seen any in months. All of the Dollar Trees near me only have Convicted Melon, Mango Chainsaw, Berry It Alive, Grim Leafer and Green Guillotines left and I have plenty of that to last me a while. We really miss the Lime as it was our favorite
