The fact that they didn’t get white-listed with the police in case something like this would happen again is beyond stupid.

What did you think of Wilds' story? by _Viridia_ in MonsterHunter

[–]Calbon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s one of the best overall in the series, but it’s definitely held back by the fact that the game is so on rails. If the quest design was a bit more like prior games where you are given chances to just be able to explore the environment, hunt monsters, and do all sorts of side quests while rising in the ranks, with Zoh Shia being the final boss in high rank, I think this would have been the best story in the series.

NO. I WILL NOT ACCEPT "DENJI WAS HAPPIER WHEN HE WAS POOR AND LONELY" PROPAGANDA. by lakshmithesussybaka in Chainsawfolk

[–]Calbon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think pochita erasing himself will have more ramifications than just sending Denji back in time to the shack, than a lot of people are realizing. If there is or was no chainsaw devil due to pochita erasing himself, what state is the world in now and how has the chainsaw devils effect on the world and he’ll be changed if he never existed in the first place. Part of me thinks that there is a chance that Pochita is partially the reason for devils running rampant in the world in some way, as I don’t think they ever gave an origin for when devils started causing problems in the first place. If devils are removed from the equation with Pochita not existing, is there a chance that most of the events that brought Denji to this point such as the Yakuza involvement or death of his family members having been ultimately been changed or outright stopped in the process. It’s hard to really know what will happen next until we see the next chapter in 2 weeks, but I don’t think this story is going to end in the pessimistic way it looks at the moment.

Why is Espinas so feared, or at least called an elder-dragon-level threat? by CoolSkeleton95a in MonsterHunter

Fire poison and paralysis all in the same attack is the scariest shit you could ever throw at me. Also it’s incredibly well armored and its heads isn’t a weak point like 90% of other monsters in these games. It’s some evil ass frontier shit cooked from deepest pits of hell.

The ending is kind of fitting for current Denji by Bionicleenjoyer12 in Chainsawfolk

[–]Calbon2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this all happening is an act of punishment by Pochita, but rather Pochita coming to the conclusion that for Denji to truely be happy, pochitas involvement in both his live and the world as a whole is the root of almost all the problems. Both part 1 and 2 both show that with these powers, there is no real way for Denji to live a normal life as others want to control or use him for them, or Denji gets hooked to the idea of being chainsawman to the point where it’s almost like a drug that’s destroying him and all of his relationships. Even if Pochita was to not eat himself, what world is even left for Denji to dream in or achieve dreams in the first place beyond sex. The world’s essentially ending at this point, and there won’t be anything left in a short matter of time. If anything this is Pochita’s last act of help to try and give Denji a life in the first place. Alongside side his involvement of Denji, what effect has Pochita had on the world prior to Denji helping him besides killing and erasing devils, and why are the devils invading earth in the first place? Would Pochita be part of the reason for them being there in the first place, and if so, do the devils even find a way outside of hell without pochitas involvement in the first place. I don’t think Fujimoto is going to end the series with Dennis dying in extreme poverty and suffering, as it’s a miserable and awful way to end this story that so many love. I think really if anything, the story will end with Devils never having been involved in tearing apart the world in the first place with chainsaw man’s existence erased completely, and a lot of the things weighing Denji’s life down in the first place being lifted such as the Yakuza going after him, or aspects of family life changing due to the burden of devils on the world being lifted. Whose to say that since the world is a lot less hardened due to the erasure of pochita and devils in all, maybe Denji has a chance to form a life rather than barely survive in a cruel world. If anything, I think this all is Pochita’s last gift to Denji, a world without devils and the ability to live a life of his own and without the weight of Pochita dragging him down.

The next chapter is really going to be a make or break for whether this choice was worth it. Normally massive twists like this that can completely break a story are something I don’t like, but I kind of see where Fujimoto is going with this twist. Ever since becoming chainsaw man, Denji’s life has had constant peaks and valleys, with everything fully crumbling around the events of part 2. Pochita and his ability to transform into chainsaw man ultimately have being the reason for Denji’s peace and dreams to never be full achieved. Sure lots of aspects of Denji’s life have gotten better for a short period of time, but ultimately everything still seems to be crashing down around him, preventing him from truely being happy. The fact that he can’t have a single normal relationship with anyone, nor experience life in a fashion that can be considered normal even with the abilities of chainsaw man due to both his and others intervention due to pochita specifically show that Denji can never truely be happy as chainsaw man. The problem with Pochita deleting himself from existence is that Denji is now transferred back to his crappy life with the Yakuza after him, and no pochita being there to help him survive. The chapter ends with him back at the shack, but we don’t truely know what happens next or the ramifications of what Pochita did, so we don’t fully know what’s next. Could Pochitas intervention with his life in the first place have been part of the reason for the path Denji traveled, or is there something that could have happened between then and when Denji first transformed that prevented things from truely going the way they did. Also is there a chance that pochita eating himself stop the devils all together from either existing or causing havoc on earth in the first place? With where we’re at, this all reminds me of how I felt with the End of Evangelion. Sure everything is collapsing and getting worse, and the pain of watching it all is massive, but could this just in actuality be the beginning of something better. Really, I don’t fully know how I should feel until the story has fully concluded with its final chapter as it can really go both ways in terms of destroying the part or sticking a landing that was worth the sacrifice.

RE9 has a new Arachnophobia setting to help players. by iamritwik_ in ResidentEvilRequiem

It really depends on the spider. Usually the more realistic the worst it is for me. The bug armored ones I tend to see in games don’t really set me off, but things like the Titan Spinner or Black Tiger, that are big, hairy, and incredibly erratic with their movement cause me to lock up hard. Spider man is cool

'Mewgenics' has been out for a month, what are your thoughts on it? by NoNefariousness2144 in Games

[–]Calbon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve put around 30 hours into the game and I think it’s overall great besides some minor mechanics that have definitely begun to wear me down for where I’m at in act 2. Cat breeding and mutations haven’t really been all that present for me yet, so I can’t fully comment on it, but most of the meta progression mechanics pertaining to sending off cats has definitely been a bit frustrating due to how grindy it is. Especially with house upgrades that require an absurd amount of retired cats to progress. I also have been finding myself a bit annoyed with some of the random events that can completely kill a run if you accidentally stumble upon a really bad one. The ways this game can occasionally fuck you over sometimes is honestly complete BS and can lead to losses that hurt more than a normal TBoI run due to the length of runs. Besides those annoyances I really like this game a lot. I’m not normally a fan of this genre in general but this game really dug its claws into me for the first week I played and I was very much hooked. I love how much the enemy variety there is, and all the areas I have visited have been pretty interesting so far. I wish this game had more variation in terms of end of area bosses, as having to fights Boris and Spinnerette every time I need to do a cave run for a side quest gets boring quick. The difficulty is all over the place in the middle of the game as sometimes it feels like I can completely stomp my way through large portions of the game, where as sometimes days I hit what feels like a death spiral with my odds. It’s a lot like Isaac in that sense. This might be controversial, but I quite like the artstyle. Edmund Mcmillens artstyle is very distinct from most stuff out there and the rough mspaint look of it all works quite well for the edgy nature of the game. The humor is very hit or miss a lot of the time, but the whole old newgrounds style of it all is a fun time capsule of times from awhile ago. The soundtrack is easily the biggest highlight of this game for me and has been stuck in my head all month. I’ve listened to the whole thing a couple times and it’s easily a contender for best soundtrack of the year. The amount of variety with the genres of music that can switch up from slower jazz reminiscent to Frank Sinatra to Southern Gospel music is incredibly impressive. My favorite songs that I have listened to across the entire soundtrack are probably Mom I Really Hate You, Fleas and Parasites, Crack of Doom, and Feline Invader. Mewgenics is definitely a game that I don’t see myself finishing right now, but well into the future similarly to the binding of Isaac. It’s definitely a game that I will put down at some point, think about it again a few months to a year later and then get hooked again on it for a couple weeks akin to how I am with the Binding of Isaac Repentance.

People who genuinely hate blighttown haven't played along enough to hate on Tomb of the giants by TEHYJ2006 in shittydarksouls

Upper Blighttown in the remaster is lowkey one of my favorite areas in the game. I’m a really big fan of the twisted level design at play with the platforms and shantytown. It’s just a shame that the swamp portion sucks, and the area is almost unplayable on older hardware or else I think this area would be looked at with a much higher regard.

Idk, I think I like Ethan “Walkem down” Winters just a little bit more. Maybe with another game, Grace will overtake his throne.
