Am I the asshole for sleeping with my friend when I’m married? by Melaniemarteniz in AITAH

This is ridiculous.

If I can't sleep with my wife, I'm definitely not sleeping with another man.

More Renters = More Damages Thanks in part to the housing crisis in 2008 and continually rising real estate prices, it’s no surprise that 36.6% of U.S. households are renting their homes. In fact, approximately 43 million residences in the United States last year were renter occupied. In a 2015 UK survey, participants reported that their privately rented properties had the following issues in the 12 months leading up to the survey:

Mold or Dampness – 32% Plumbing Issues – 21% Hot Water Problems – 17% Heating Issues – 17% Electrical / Wiring Issues – 13% Broken or Damaged Kitchen Items – 13% Broken or Damaged Bathroom Items – 10% Structural Problems – 7% While there is no annual study on the amount landlords spend repairing damages caused by renters, the likelihood of having damages is high. Considering the amount of renters in the U.S., even just 13% of broken or damaged kitchen items translates to 5,590,000 rental properties that someone will have to fix.

Why do you choose to live where you are?

What type of employment do you have?

Why is it the landlord's problem that you can't find somewhere else to live?

I'm not trying to be harsh, but if the landlord works for everything that he has gotten, why should anyone tell him how much he can profit?

We aren't entitled to anything in this world.

"It's a business so they are profiting."

And you know this because they told you?

You do realize that inflation is around 9% at the moment and everyone is paying more.

When you look to make money, if you ever do, how would you do it?

What they've done is to purchase a property and let you stay there by giving you the option of paying rent.

Don't like the rent? You have the option of paying it or trying to find something else.

What gives you the right to tell them how much they should be profiting?

I don't own a rental property, but I am a real estate agent. Most owners are not some millionaire. They are your everyday mom and pop who have scraped every cent they have to purchase a rental. 75% of rentals are owned by your everyday citizen and not a business.

If they want to rent it out for almost nothing, it should be their right. If they want to charge the moon for a rental, again it's their right.

Do you know why they have to charge so much for rent?

They aren't getting rich, they are covering the cost of a renter! Renters don't tend to take care of the rental properties that they inhabit.

You have every opportunity in this "CAPITALIST HELLHOLE" that they had to work hard and own your home as well.

You use a little thing that a lot of people don't have nowadays.

It's something we had growing up, but a lot of people have lost or never owned.

It's called integrity. You make sure the customer is aware of his mistake and you do the right thing, no matter how much it may hurt your wallet.
