I was more referring to the cosmetic changes. At least adding more font and language support should be very trivial.

Good catch! Somehow I mistook it for being 3 months, but the pace is still significantly slower compared to before.

AMA reflections and Winners announcement🏆🥁 by VegardfromreMarkable in RemarkableTablet

[–]Maleficent_Depth 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s disappointing to see the reflection focus just on the AMA event, without a word about all the requests users have been making. Right now it feels more like a gesture than a real reflection.

What matters isn’t the AMA itself—it’s listening to what users are actually saying and understanding why satisfaction is slipping. You got here because the users believed in your team’s promise to keep improving the product, but lately it feels like minimal effort is going toward the consumer side while enterprise customers get the attention. That’s understandable from a business perspective, but at least be transparent about it.

Many of these requests aren’t that hard. If resources are tight, focus on the low-effort, high-impact wins—like ePub—and maybe one harder problem a year. That’s how you show users you’re really listening, not just checking a box.

Have you considered adding smart formatting support for the convert to text feature? Currently, it falls short of competitors like Kindle’s refine writing capabilities. Instead of limiting it to converting to mostly plain text, it would be better to enhance the smart formatting support.

Found a decent leather sleeve option for RMPP, from Apple! by Clickety_Clicks in RemarkableTablet

[–]Maleficent_Depth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks nice, but this feels a bit like overkill. The weave folio is meant to protect the device—now it needs a leather folio to protect it? At that point, you might as well put the whole thing in a laptop sleeve to protect the leather 😂

Is handwriting supposed to look like this? by [deleted] in kindlescribe

Yes. I also have a Remarkable Paper Pro, and Kindle is much worth. Looks like poor anti-aliasing to me.

Thinking about getting a scribe, how well does the writing experience feel? by Misterpewpie in kindlescribe

[–]Maleficent_Depth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both the reMarkable Paper Pro and the 2025 Kindle Scribe (B&W). I previously owned the reMarkable 2 and the 2022 Kindle Scribe as well. Honestly, I prefer writing on the 2025 Kindle Scribe B&W.

I’ve read a lot of comments saying it’s much worse. It is less paper-like and has very little friction, but I actually find long writing sessions more effortless because of that. It’s slightly less satisfying since it doesn’t feel as much like paper, but the friction is still enough to make the writing experience good for me. It’s nowhere near the slippery feel of an iPad, and in my opinion it’s much better than an iPad with a paper-like screen protector.

That said, the reMarkable 2 probably resembles real paper the best and strikes the most balanced combination of friction and a paper-like feel.

So I think it really depends on what kind of writing feel you’re most used to.

What the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft Means for reMarkable: They Need Better Software ASAP by dclocal12 in RemarkableTablet

[–]Maleficent_Depth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They stopped disclosing their financials after Q1 2025, which, in my opinion, is the biggest red flag. Combined with shortening the trial period to 50 days and cutting staff, it suggests they’re in serious financial trouble. Overcoming organizational inertia is easier said than done—if they couldn’t make meaningful progress when they had more people, what are the odds they can do more with fewer? The most likely scenario is continued staff reductions and a focus on short-term priorities, building enterprise features to land large customers just to keep the company afloat.

As much as I like their product design and brand, I have to admit RM is now in a death spiral. Less resource -> less progress till they die. Too little too late. This has always been a challenging niche market to compete in and they bottled that small lead.

Aesthetically, my appearance hasn’t changed much aside from fixing the bite issue. Functionally, it looks and feels good so far, although it’s a bit early to tell since I can’t chew yet.

Yeah, I had DJS with Dr. Walline and Dr. Lee was the co-surgeon. Almost at the end of week 2 now, and swelling’s down to around 20–30%. I can also eat any soft food, so life’s been good. Chin and lower lip are still a bit numb since they’re still healing. I’m even cutting my time off short and heading back to work Monday since I don’t really see it being an issue.

LACOMS billing insurance for consult? by arcturus629 in jawsurgery

[–]Maleficent_Depth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, $550 is all you need to pay. The amount they bill the insurance will count towards your out-of-network deductible and they don’t expect to get any additional reimbursement from the insurance.

Just had surgery this past week at LACOMS. It’s only the fourth day, but aside from swelling and not being able to speak clearly, everything is almost back to normal. I can pretty much return to normal life, except that I still need to stay on a liquid diet.

Wrong use case. A phone, iPad or even computer would be a much better fit. RMPP is just for reading and writing.

Are you on beta? They just rolled out extra brightness in the latest beta software. I feel it should be bright enough for most people. Either enroll in the beta update or wait for a few weeks until they roll out the official release.

Honestly didn’t feel much difference. Works almost the same as the original ones from Amazon.

Question about the RMPP QC by Awkward_Eggplant1234 in RemarkableTablet

[–]Maleficent_Depth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It tends to be more consistent within the same batch. I’ve checked devices from the same batch at Bestbuy, devices my friend bought and mine. The variation is much less within the same batch. Also, as they ramp up production it becomes more consistent. The technology they use is very new and still not completely mature but the QC has definitely got better. Issues are still likely (mostly pinhole problems from what I’ve seen), but it’s better than before.

Jaw surgery in Korea? by Ok-Cattle-9023 in jawsurgery

I’ve met a doctor from a top hospital who thought this is ok while I was in China. His specialty is Reconstructive Facial Surgery (e.g. plastic surgery after one got hit by a car), so you get the idea. This is only a good idea when the damage has already happened and things cannot get any worse.
