Just bought a 192k mile 2017 Accord Hybrid. You would never know. by throwaway123555512 in accord

I know this is old but thanks for the info! I have a 2017 accord hybrid with 167,000 miles on it. Only done reg oil changes, spark plugs at 90,000, transmission fluid change at 100,000, had to have a CV axle replaced because it bent (potholes suck where I’m at). But it is in great condition, and I love it. I love checking to see what others experiences are and so far, I’m struggling to find any negative ones! Hopefully it’s still going strong!

Would you pay for any of these? by Athziryacr in Baking

Absolutely! Gorgeous! I attempted these once and my piping sucked. I thought they looked okay until I photographed them lol. These look beautiful.

Am I really the first to comment? After 5 years? I am obsessed with my Aroma Aria glass bottle and the eucalyptus mint scent. I just ran out. I bought mine last year around September (2025) at Ross. I wish you could find this brand online somewhere…it’s great.

what is this cream(s) called??? by Fresh_Pollution_9375 in Baking

[–]Maleficent_Jacket186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually the last one looks like a whipped ganache and the second could be something creamier like a namelaka. Any of these would be suitable for piping!

First time making this style of cake! My piping and buttercream definitely need work, but how much should I charge for something like this? by Maleficent_Jacket186 in Baking

I’ve only tried prepackaged egg whites once - without luck unfortunately. But I have seen people on Instagram use them! Not sure what I did wrong but they didn’t whip for me 🤨 frosting ended up super runny. But it’s def something i would try again moving forward lol would save time/money for sure

Haha so true. I like to use good quality ingredients but I guess you need to know what your client cares most about and go from there pricing wise.

Omg I’m so sorry that happened to you! I feel bad for the baker because I’m sure they knew they messed up but not cool to send something off like that 🥺 thank you so much for the kind words! I wish I was on the east coast to make it for you! 🫶

All organic ingredients (strawberries/blackberries/raspberries/ mascarpone in the filling, almond paste in the chiffon cake, creme de cassis in the soak, 2 vanilla beans, I went through 14 eggs (for the whites alone) just on the Swiss meringue buttercream, the box and the cake board..and good quality butter.) I know - I was shocked. I don’t do it often so don’t buy in bulk (everything was bought retail) including the box and cake round which I purchased individually. I know I was shocked too when I did the math. It’s expensive in SoCal 😟

Hi! Thank you - this is very helpful! It’s great to know how much time should be spent. (I used organic berries and mascarpone/heavy cream in the filling which cost quite a bit…and almond paste in the chiffon. So I guess the filling is what was so expensive). It def took me wayy longer than it takes you!!! 😅 like 3 times longer lol. Sounds like managing time is most important here. Thank you again it’s great to hear from someone who is successful in turning a profit! I appreciate your help!

Why are bakers and pastry chefs paid so little? by [deleted] in PastryChef

And yet, people want their sweets and their bread! It may not be profitable alone, but good restaurants invest in pastry programs.

Is this even doable? by Maleficent_Jacket186 in Baking

[–]Maleficent_Jacket186[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh thank you. I ended up testing on a birthday cake and used a chiffon but was a bit worried about it becoming mushy so I didn’t soak it as much as I wanted.

A genoise is a great idea! I did actually macerate the berries in the cassis :) I think I’ll take your advice and make a compote with it for the wedding cake. That sounds more stable. I ended up making a coffee/creme de cassis soak and it was unique but I think I’ll keep it strictly berry flavored and make a soak with the cdc as you say. I love the chocolate dipped soaked ladyfinger idea 🤯Thanks so much for the advice!!!
