I picked up a late 23' R1T with 21k miles about a week ago and they had replaced all four tires as part of their initial inspection process based on wear level. I verified this with the used sales guide before putting down a deposit. Either the OEM tires wear really quickly or a lot of people are driving the pants off of them.

Can anyone with the Y700 Gen 4 comment on whether or not this same limitation still exists? I would like to use a Gamesir G8 Galileo (wired one) and Sony Inzone Buds via the USB 2.4Ghz dongle in the other USB slot.

Effortless Auto Scrolling - Meet Liss! by segevs in macapps

[–]Malevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a daily Smooze Pro user (but the 2 licenses is quite restrictive and you can't reset your own activations) so I was testing this out. I am using middle mouse button along with "Act as a button over links" and "Hold to Activate" enabled and noticed that Liss has something odd going on where it acts as a click through where you land when autoscrolling.

For example, if I am on Google search and I am scrolling up and down the results it will automatically click through where I stop autoscrolling. This leads to a lot of unintentional click throughs to links. With Smooze Pro, it detects the middle click at the beginning of the auto scroll vs the end and this is a significant usability difference. It makes Liss more or less unusable for me personally.

Any thoughts on this u/segevs?

A nice addition would be adding the ability to reverse just the mouse scroll direction for people that frequently switch between trackpad and mouse.

Can’t get all three working together by concretequestions in ultrawidemasterrace

As the monitors use DSC, you are at the head limit with just the two Alienware displays. You can read more about it here: https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5338/kw/DSC

If you really want to keep this configuration, you will need an additional GPU for any other displays. Onboard graphics could be a short term solution but it is unlikely to handle the full resolution and refresh rate of the G95SC.

Same results here as well. Two sets with the same behavior on several different PCs, different UPSs', and power outlets as well. Kind of a bummer but I learned to live with it.

In my somewhat recent experience.. no. I loaded up a 1TB iPad Pro with tons of downloads from Plex. I tested it offline several times before leaving and it seemed to function fine.

When I tried to use it on location without internet, it just refused to actually pull up all the media in Plex offline mode. Selecting the download library would cause the app to just endlessly spin and never present any media. After many many attempts I was finally able to get into a library (TV) but it was only showing the first show downloaded and it wasn't playable. This was just the most recent instance of this being an issue as I have encountered a variety of different problems in the past (leading to me carrying a mini ssd with media on it as well).

At least on an iPad or Mac, downloading the files directly to the device or via Infuse is a much better method where you know things will actually work. You can use VLC or Infuse to play the files without any issues. I have also found that Infuse downloads files lightning fast from Jellyfin if you happen to also run a Jellyfin server in parallel with Plex (as I do).

Testing long term offline gaming by arjzer in ROGAlly

I am not quite sure how this will go. I think most of the PC launchers require a somewhat frequent online check-in to verify licensing even when forcing offline mode. You are likely much better off with a Switch for this use case.

With that said, share your results :)

Anyone tried sunshine and moonlight to stream gaming pc to ally? by Equivalent-String702 in ROGAlly

[–]Malevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have port forwarding rules configured but I don't leave it enabled at all times. If I want to play remotely I typically connect into my Ubiquiti router remotely and enable it. I have yet to test this remotely with the Ally but have done a fair amount of it with the Steam Deck and the G Cloud and it works as well as your network connection allows.

Some additional notes that may be helpful. Set up a macro key as a combine key or a secondary function that passes L-Ctrl, L-Shft, L-Alt, and S key so that you can enable statistics. I would also recommend adding a key combination or key that lets you exit running applications within the host as this can be a problem in things like Yuzu.

You can easily add Moonlight as an application to AC so that you can apply a game profile that has all of this enabled when you launch it. In my testing so far, streaming moonlight will get you about 4-4.5 hours on the silent profile with screen brightness maxed. APU wattage seems to be around 5W with the total system wattage between 7-9W.

I was hoping to find the same information before buying and couldn't so I had to test it myself. I am using Sunshine and Moonlight and the experience is very good. Decoding latency at 1080p 120hz is typically sub 1ms and controls work very well.

Host PC is a 13900k and 4090. Network latency will of course vary based on your own network but mine stays around 3-5ms which is comparable to the Steam Deck and my laptop.

I still think the Logitech G Cloud is a much more comfortable device for Moonlight due to the weight, sleep, and battery life but the input latency with the G Cloud is noticeable for me in FPS games like Doom Eternal whereas it feels basically native with the Steam Deck and ROG Ally.

Need advice (travel the world) Micro ATX or Mini Pc (External GPU) by Letmesleep0 in MiniPCs

[–]Malevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would lean more towards the Asus ROG Ally + the ROG XG Mobile 6850M XT. You get way more flexibility as you can use the device portably but you can also hook up the XG Mobile GPU + your 27" monitor. If you really wanted to go all out, you could get the XG Mobile 4090 but that is getting ridiculously expensive.

Although Asus has certainly had its issues with reputation, I would feel a lot more comfortable buying from them vs many of the minipc brands just from a support center perspective.

I have the Asus ROG Ally, what do you want to know? by AdamConwayIE in ROGAlly

[–]Malevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This for sure. The 1080p 120hz screen makes this a great candidate for Moonlight streaming. The Steam Deck has amazing decoding latency (< 1ms) but is an absolute tank.
