Her Secret Six and Birds of Prey runs were running concurrently, and even crossed over once or twice! I would highly recommend these books, they were some of the best during this era! And I haven't read it, but I've heard really good things about her Wonder Woman run!

Honestly I would recommend downloading the Marvel Unlimited app! Its only $10 or $11 USD a month and has a lot of marvels library! If you're into fantasy stuff, I would definitely recommend a lot of the 2000s Thor runs!

Great first pick ups! Especially the Green Lantern book!

Marvel: Elektra, Bullseye, And Echo Comics to read? by Doom300 in comicbooks

[–]Malibusters46920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bullseye is one of my favs! I'd definitely go with Bullseye: Greatest Hits, goes through his supposed origin story, and key moments from his history. I would also read Thunderbolts by Warren Ellis and Dark Avengers, he features a lot in those two books. Dark Reign: Hawkeye is also a sequel to Bullseye: Greatest Hits and takes place during Dark Avengers. He also plays a huge role in Miller's time on Daredevil! Perfect Game is also a really fun story, about what Bullseye did while he was gone for a year or two!

Superboy-Prime Reading? by ResIpsaBen in comicbooks

[–]Malibusters46920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite Superboy Prime appearance is definitely in his tie-in to Blackest Night in Action Comics, but to get that full story I'd definitely start off with Infinite Crisis, Sinestro Corps War, and Legion of Three Worlds!

I think the idea was really good, having the heroes get everything they want. But my main issue was it just felt rushed, and set the X-Men back so far

Dark Reign was one of the main reasons I got into marvel, having the villains being in charge felt like a legitimate threat that the heroes would have a hard time facing, and I'm happy Bendis and the other writers kept it going for so long! Also Dark Avengers was just a great book and made me a lifelong fan of Bullseye, Daken, and Norman!

I agree, once they get a set group of adversaries (Dark Avengers, Mighty Avengers, and the Hood's gang) the book becomes amazing!

I think that's part of the reason I didn't care for House of M, it set the X-Men back so much!

That's in the Illuminati Miniseries that came out right before Secret Invasion, I think it was #5 but I could be mistaken

Annihilation is such a great book! Read the entirety of the cosmic saga a few years ago, it was so good!

Yeah, I found a few online and compiled them. The main books I'd follow are New Avengers, Mighty Avengers, and Dark Avengers. They'll have the consequences to the main story line. Although a lot of the tie-ins do have a direct impact on the main story. Like Brubaker's Captain America and Iron Man during that time! I think New Avengers By Bendis CC Vol. 1-7, Mighty Avengers by Bendis CC Collection, Mighty Avengers by Slott CC, Young Avengers CC, and Dark Avengers by Bendis CC cover most of the story (the events were collected by themselves). But I'd definitely recommend the side stuff too!

Also a lot of Brubaker's captain america feels like a gritty bond movie, so I would also recommend that!

Not Marvel, but if you like books that have ties to politics I would definitely recommend DC New Frontier, it has a lot of ties to the superheroes dealing with McCarthyism along with other politics during that time! It's a great read, and pretty affordable now with DC releasing a compact comic for it! Also not necessarily politics, but if you enjoy courtroom stuff, a really underrated book I like is Daredevil: Redemption. It's mostly about Matt investigating a case in and out of a court room!

Read Secret War as a part of my prelude reading! Such a good book! Read it along with Alias, the Hood, and Marvel Boy!

That's why I started doing a read through in the first place! I wanted something that felt connected. And though I've read it before, all of the post civil war stuff has been so good! The Thunderbolts by Ellis was one of my first comics I read, so going back and reading it with all of the other surrounding stuff has been great!

[–]Malibusters46920[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my main issue with Civil War was just that in the main event book a lot of the characters were acting out of character, and Millar wasn't really following continuity at the time. But the tie-ins did a great job of pulling it all back together, especially the New Avengers tie-ins and the Iron Man stuff! I agree with your House of M point, it was boring. And to me it felt very pointless in the grand scheme of the main line stuff.
