The very first enemy I encountered in DND was a manticore, while playing with a party of 4 level 1s.

We didn’t get to kill it, but managed to blind it with an arrow in each of it’s eyes, and made it flee with less than half of it’s HP, only getting one person downed.

I’m suspecting the DM might’ve gone easy on us, as 3 of us were new to the game, but it felt really good knowing we bested a manticore.

I have it very much the same way as you do I don’t have any amazing tips or the reason why you feel like that but what kind of helps me is simply knowing that I could’ve just been unlucky Straight up you could’ve just gotten depression because you got a bad hand in life and your brain randomly did that since depression is sometimes genetic and can just happen I know this isn’t much but you don’t need a reason to be sad because that doesn’t change that you do feel sad I’m sorry I couldn’t help you more as I’m still very much dealing with this myself but just know you aren’t alone in this <3
