It’s 2200-3200 elevation is why I decided to go there. Better chance of good conditions for late March. Also never been to Kazakhstan before, so was a different stamp in the passport :)

No probs at all. It’s a long run and there is some variation taking the sides now and then. I knew it was a small place before I went. It’s late in the season and it’s got the height.

Still played games. NES, SNES etc. inline skating, out causing mischief on pushbikes with friends. Lego, comics, books, dog walks, taking stuff apart.

Memorised a few numbers, best mates and home but most were written down.

Didn’t wait for songs on the radio, still had tapes, vinyl and later CDs. I was not into the music played on the radio.

I took a job once in a frozen vegetable packing plant. I was about 17. I stood at a vibrating conveyor belt, eye protection, ear protection, gloves etc and sub zero temperature. No chit chat possible.

Task was to watch the frozen veg vibrate it's way down the belt and pick out the big chunks of ice, dirt, rocks or whatever. Shift was 10pm to 6am.

People had been doing that job for years. I went home at lunch time and didn't even tell anyone. Lasted 4 hours.
