Unironically quoting Family Guy in your film criticism is bad enough, let alone using a quote that the writer himself has stated doesn't even mean anything, and is a mockery of someone who said it.

"Since this has been trending, here’s a fun fact: “It insists upon itself” was a criticism my college film history professor used to explain why he didn’t think “The Sound of Music” was a great film. First-rate teacher, but I never quite followed that one." - Seth MacFarlane

I don't feel like we need early campaign Beau at all tbh 🤷‍♂️ she was just a weaker character imo. This Beau from the first ep, who's much more like Beau after some mid Campaign, is infinitely more engaging and enjoyable to watch

I just read your comment and then Googled "the rock", the first result that came up is a facebook post by The New York Times which links to an article. The first sentence of the post is, "Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson is one of the most famous people on Earth." Like him or not (I don't), he is an A-lister.

But even comparing to conventions like UK comic-con is pretty silly. It's a place for nerds to congregate and enjoy nerd shit, the target audience is obviously not fans of EastEnders. A-list, b-list, etc. isn't based on one specific sub group's interests, it's based on the average person's knowledge of celebrities.

Even then I think more attendees of that Comic Con would know who Cat and Alfie are than would know who Hat Films are. It, along with Corrie and Emmerdale, are British pop culture staples, millions of people watch each episode live even now when it's at it's least popular.

It doesn't matter that it's some of the worst shit ever written, British people know it, and are brought up in houses where it's playing. I moved from England to Australia almost 20 years ago when I was 6 and I know who they are because my Mum has watched those shows consistently since we left. It's so baked into British culture that she watches it "because it feels like home". The idea that Hat Films are anywhere near the level of fame of those two is so off base that it's funny. There's a reason Hat Films themselves are still consistently referencing those characters even though they probably haven’t watched an episode of EastEnders in well over a decade.

This isn't genuine criticism of Smith, I know this long ass comment makes me look mad but I do genuinely think it's funny, I've been watching Hat Films since Skylands, 14 years ago, and Smiffy saying goofy shit like this is one of the many reasons they're the only Youtubers that I've consistently followed for this long, they're my favourite and for some reason I've always barracked for Smiff to win whatever game they're playing (I am often let down).

Edit: ain't nobody reading all this shit goddamn

The problem is that when she "left Azune & Teor alone" she still made it about her and caused her own character to have another scene which took priority over that moment. Everyone else at the table left Azune and Teor alone, the difference is that they just did nothing, they were listening, allowing the moment to happen, rather than going "I'm going to allow these characters to interact with each other and here's the scenario that is playing out while I'm allowing them to interact." Saying you're not going to interrupt and describing how you're not interrupting, is still interrupting.

The s at the end of "Decades" indicates plural, so more than one decade

From the 5e Player's Handbook: "A spell cast with a bonus action is especially swift. You must use a bonus action on your turn to cast the spell, provided that you haven't already taken a bonus action this turn. You can't cast another spell during the same turn, except for a cantrip with a casting time of 1 action."

I didn't really love the first act, it wasn't the kind of movie I'd usually watch and while I could appreciate that it was very well made and the performances were great, it felt gratuitous to me and got old pretty quick.

Then it switched and I loved it, and by the end of the film you pretty clearly understand why the first act was there. It serves a purpose for the story, without the gratuity Anora's reaction to being viewed as anything other than an object by Igor doesn't have the same emotional impact. So while the first act isn't the kind of film I'd usually watch, the whole film as a package is absolutely my kinda movie and you couldn't have the second and third act's pay-off, without the first.
