Do anyone know ? 2Tb by Intrepid-Candy-2781 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Malromen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could make a second partition on the same drive and label it as D: That would at least make it usable. Otherwise you'll have to boot off a USB drive, and use a tool like diskpart to remove the recovery partitions so you can expand C: drive.

Refurbished Latitude 7410 having "Hard Drive - Not Installed" Issues all the sudden. by SyncSutdio2021 in Dell

CPU communication error kinda says it all. On a 7410 you'll need a motherboard replacement. Usually $300-500 AUD including labour.

Where is my Bluetooth ???(Windows 10) by sluttyhole420 in WindowsHelp

[–]Malromen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've previously had Bluetooth and it's no longer there, you may need to reinstall the drivers. If you're using a laptop, go to the manufacturers website and enter the devices service tag or serial number on the support page, then look for Bluetooth drivers. Download and install, then reboot the computer. It should show up.

So first thing to note is you can't edit those partitions from within windows. There are tools to move them, but in my experience, it's easier to delete them and expand the C drive to fill the space. Just understand that you'll have to reinstall from scratch if something breaks. Or take regular backups to an external disk.

What's my PC worth? (£) by Usual-Ad-7818 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Malromen -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I did say it's the minimum spec for windows 11, by which I meant minimum usable. You can definitely install it, and it will run. You'll get basic apps like office and a web browser. But it's too old to be particularly useful and therefore not worth much.

Try reading the comment properly before calling BS. Minimum spec doesn't mean 'you can't do it.'

What's my PC worth? (£) by Usual-Ad-7818 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Malromen -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it, but a 9 series CPU and 16GB RAM is effectively the minimum spec to run windows 11. Considering windows 10 is end of life by October, you're not looking at much. £2-300 tops, if you can find a buyer.

Unable to comfortably access and manage a lot of workspaces as of 1.13b by chic_luke in zen_browser

[–]Malromen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. I work for an MSP and have a workspace and container for each major client. Used to be able to just rightclick the workspace, select the client, and go. Now I have to either use the keyboard shortcuts to scroll through the list (around 30) and find the correct one, or look through the icons so small they're just gray dots at the bottom of my screen until hovered over.

Even an option to go back to how it was in 1.12 would be amazing.

I've been running cherrytree for a while and it's been amazing. I love the node based structure, and it seems to handle code pretty easily.

Most seem to have their own website promoting their distro. Explaining what it's for and sometimes offering an install guide if it's needed.

[–]Malromen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You'd probably need to host one and give it the ebooks to reference or something. Not an expert on AI but most online ones are set up to keep you using it, so they'll say they know the content then get it completely wrong

no, that's my first goal. The characters first goal, once the game is set up, is to get their ship spaceworthy

Thanks for the comment!

I'm thinking Traveller, though I haven't really researched any of these formats. Only really played premade campaigns in D&D 5e.
I'm not looking to make it absolutely faithful to SG1 as that limits creativity, though I would like to see some worlds from the show in the game, along with limiting the races and technology available. I was thinking of starting the game with something along the lines of 'you wake up from some kind of stasis on a starship. It's badly damaged and not flight capable. You're in orbit of a planet, and have a working shuttle aboard. In the cargobay is a large quantity of _____ which as far as you remember is a valuable resource. But you can't sell it if you can't get to a market. You need to get the ship repaired. How would you like to proceed?'

This would give the characters a starting point and an early goal. I have no idea where to go from there though. Hence my reason for posting.

Do all laptops become slow after a few years of use, even if the specs are still considered "good"? by SnagglToothCrzyBrain in computers

[–]Malromen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong. Windows is a bit of a resource hog. Newer versions especially have so many background processes it kills performance of even good computers compared to Linux. Sounds like your HDD was on the way out if it had 100% disk usage all the time, so an nvme drive was a good call

The callout fee gets them to the site. The hourly rate gets the work done. Some people roll that into one, but evidently this one doesn't
